Hey, is it safe to pair with FiiO PL50? I see people using it with the RT-5000 but the specification isn't matching, as far as I can tell. RT-5000: 15v 3a and the PL50: 15v 2a
Even if it functions, I wouldn't recommend it as it is not safe. During operation, the RT5000 might require more current than the power supply can provide, leading to potential malfunctions, reduced performance (as the digital circuit requires a specific supply voltage and current), voltage drops, self-limiting by shutting down, or in the worst-case scenario, overheating and becoming unsafe. This is one reason many power supplies include overcurrent protection.
The RT5000 has four gain modes: low, medium, high, and super high. There's no issue with using it on high gain all the time and will not affect the longevity of the product, but ensure you completely lower the volume before inserting any IEMs or headphones. When using it with speakers, note that it has a line out and is not a preamp, meaning the volume will be maxed out for the lineout. The gain setting will affect the volume and voltage of the RCA/XLR outputs, so check your speaker's sensitivity to ensure it can handle the output voltage in high gain mode. While I recommend using the medium mode to protect your equipment, for the RT5000 itself, there's no problem running it on high gain.
@@Atechreviews I am using the rca line out connected to my integrated amplifier rca in, I thought the volume would be maxed out by default (fixed volume), however this was not the case and the volume knob on the DAC was controlling it. So, i set the volume knob to highest with SUPER gain ON, and my speakers sound great. With low, medium and high gain, the output was very weak, with super gain only, my speakers came alive. I normally put the volume knob on my integrated amp to 9-10 o clock and maxed out on the DAC. The DAC can somewhat become hot though, although the manual states this is normal. (ps. I don't use iems or headphones so, I will never be using the headphone amp, just the dac alone)
@@fatboyvin You are lucky. My volume knob doesn't affect the DAC outputs. The DAC gets warm and that's normal because of the two ESS 9038 Pro chips and 12 opamps, but it shouldn't get burning hot so that you can't touch it. It is warm for me also even when using headphones. I see no problem with using it the way you are doing. Enjoy your music 😀
Seems like a really nice unit. Personally I am guilty of buying audio gear partly with my eyes though and unfortunately the colours are an aesthetic dealbreaker for me. I realize it comes in black also but gold just doesn't it fit in with any of my gear.
