Pretty cool. I'm enjoying the Rosecraft content I'm seeing across the board lately. Seems like their knives both traditional and modern are really taking off. Been thinking mighty seriously about grabbing their Little Chonk design to a wharncliffe flipper in the rotation.
Heinnie Haynes has got them in stock and listed as UK legal. The cutting edge was the deciding factor for a legal carry here in the UK but I understand now the blade length inclueds the ricasso. I still might pick one up. The quality looks to be extremely good. Nice review.
Hey TK. I just received this one today. I agree it is very much like a rough ryder reserve. Very well constructed. I was a little slow on ordering it because of the pry bar. I'm glad I finally got it because it's a great knife. Thanks for your review.
This is my favorite knife from Rosecraft so far. I think it looks fantastic. Andy did a great job with this design! Thanks for showing this one off, my friend!
Yo thrifty I ordered the whole line of SMKW moon glow knives wait till you see the sowbelly and they glow too!!!! Yeah I’m pumped on this series….. hurry up head over and order them up there selling fast 😊
Being a machinist many of our tooling use solid carbide or carbide inserts, but carbide is very brittle, so we have to rely on high speed steel. D2 is a high speed steel, so I appreciate it very much.
really good-looking knife, the micarta looks like a painted wood, but more durable, swedge on the blade looks very good, pry bar makes knife a little different, thanks for showing it!
I've been remodeling my kitchen and have had this knife with me every day. The pry bar works well on standard paint cans and doesn't mar (doesn't even touch) the micarta or liners. The blade shape-size-thickness is handy for a number of tasks.
I've got one in the mail right now. 👍 Andy said it was also sold with cigars as a package when they used to brad wooden cigar boxes closed so you would use the knife's pry tip to open the cigar boxes.
Not a fan of Armstrong..I think his designs are way off the mark..he says his knives are inspired by a lot of things that don’t exist lol..that knife looks pretty good..very much RR..Thank you for sharing
Great, after watching your video....I ended up ordering this RCB...thanks, my wife is gonna kill me now....just ordered the Sabacc from RRR last week!!! lol...Great video and with good points on these RCB knives, as mentioned...these are pretty identical with RRR knives and 100 % fact that these are coming from the exact same factory!! Also love the fact that you actually can remove the CHINA sticker!! Funny thing is, RRR knives all about 20-25 dollar more,,,,I guess RCB folks are making money too on their blades....so my guess is SMKW is milking its customers pretty bad...lol I love all these old designs/patterns and really hope to see more to come!! OK, Andy....get to work....!!!
Hey TK, she is a classy carry, for sure! I've seen a few videos on some of Rosecraft's pieces and I'm lovin' them! 🤩 Thanks for sharing buddy, Atb Gus 👍
We can buy and own knives of that size but just can't carry in public, I have bought similar knives and reprofiled blades to just under 3 inches to be able to carry, with this particular knife I don't think it would look nice with quarter of an inch taken off the blade, shame they hadn't made is a bit smaller good looking knife.
Looks well made and D2 is good edc steel, personally I’d grind the pry bar off for pocket carry. This design would be a good candidate for easy opener notch in the handle if they left a little more steel toward the top of blade point .
I was hoping you would find which design this came from. Nice job on molding the slip. It looks like a nice knife. I don’t think I would use the pry much but it might save a blade!
The pry isn't as big of a deal or annoyance as I thought it'd be. It's grown on me in person actually. The price is very fair for what you get. Thanks, RJ.
Thanks, TK. I picked up one of these for my wife's BDay gift to me for later next week 😉. She knows I enjoy AA's work with RR/RRR knives, and would enjoy the small pry for the woodshop.. She did good 👍.
Hey Thrifty how are you ? Listen you know since I found your channel I always tune in that is the cool thing about a smaller channel cuz you get to know of us right somewhat ? So what I'd like to share with you is this I know of another channel whom gets approx the same amount of views and Twosun just sent him 3 different knifes for a review now free is Thrifty Freefty see what I did there look into it and besides a Good honest review and price point can you start adding weight for me as I am a picky prick best of luck brother . 🙏🏻
Lately I include the weight in a slideshow photo. Stick around for the whole video and you'll see it. My email is available for anyone who would like to contact me about reviews. I don't actively seek them out.
@@ThriftyKaniffy Rodger that The slide show pics are unreal how good they are perfect lighting and I like how you get the tang stamp close enough to read it . Hey what's your favorite knife out of your collection ? Peace . 🙏🏻
@@ThriftyKaniffy I'll be doing a video on it, couldn't believe all the SWAG that Blue Creek throws in their shipments. Candy/Cards/Stickers/Can Coozy.. Highly impressed with that.
Since seeing Rosecraft Blades Clinch River knife, I have been checking in to see when they became available and always looked past this one because of the pry bar. Then BigRed EDC came out with the video and she looked good in her closeups so I purchased one from Blue Creek Knives. Using BRE's discount, it cost me $30.59 and free shipping. Bryan had it shipped in thirty minutes on Cyber Monday! It is a beautiful, well made knife with a stout pull which I don't mind at all. I accepted the pry bar quicker than a double shot of whiskey on a cold night. And, that was just because of how nicely it flowed with the rest of the knife. Then I realized what an effective tool it would make on say...a skull. I tried it in a sheath you demonstrated and it does fit nicely. While I was purchasing this knife, I saw that the Rough Ryder Reserve Barlow was available so I got it also and saved with the discount code. I have been looking for it for some time now and was surprised to see it. Again it is very well made and fits deep in the small version of the slip you showed but a lanyard would help extract it. She also fits and looks great in a leather Bic style lighter protector made by Hide and Drink from Amazon.
The pry bar is a nice touch….I remember my father breaking off the end of a case slim line trapper trying to pry something on the screen door…I’ll never forget the oh shit look on his face.
Not a common feature for a traditional, so if you're into that sort of thing I can see this being a real good option. Thanks for watching NS, I appreciate it buddy.
I bought a kershaw culpepper.the steel in that thing isn't much it will not stay sharp if you get it a little sharp use it one time and it needs honed.
@@ThriftyKaniffy everything about my experience with RCB was flawless from start to finish. Great website, easy to order, perfect shipping & handling. The knife arrived well-packaged and in perfect condition. The fit of the seams along the back spring are so flawless you can barely tell there is a seam. The pull is super-strong -- which is what I prefer. Perfect centering on the satin blade. Honest Abe: can't find anything wrong with the RoseCraft Blades Appalachian Jack!
Happy Saturday TK, thanks for the new review, a very handsome looking knife & reasonably priced too although with a 3 1/4" sized blade I prefer a locking blade, in fact I prefer a locking blade on any knife with a blade with a cutting edge over 2 5 " . I wonder if you can fit a Kwik thumb stud on it to make it a one handed opener?
Very nice knife , at a good price . I could live without the pry bar feature . If the knife is a copy of a old IXL design I wonder if the " pry bar " wasn't A slot head screwdriver in the original design . Maybe marketed as a small folding hunter or bird knife ( thus the clip point ) with a screw driver for field disassembly of a firearm . Great review . Peace , Be Free .
I've seen some IXL "Soldier's knives " ( circa 1940s , I believe ) that have a similar tool on the rear of the knife . Thanks for the reply . Continued success with the channel.
Thanks for the tip about the pocket slip. I have just pocket dropped mine a couple of days since I got it, but the slip will make carry better. I have no idea about patterns from 100 years ago, but GEC's Calf Pen Jack from a few years ago had a pry. If memory serves it was on their 35 frame
