Hi Alan, when foaming one water drop is split over several foam bubbles whereby a bigger surface for the heat absorption is made. Additional the compressed air foam sticks on the fire material and enables a continuous heat absorption. Thereby much of the water which is bounded in the compressed air foam can be made to evaporate and therefore the fire material is maximum cooled. Through the evaporation of the water the oxygen is displaced from the fire material. Furthermore, a separation layer between fire material and oxygen is created by the on the fire material sticking compressed air foam. Thereby the oxygen supply of the fire source is optimal interrupted. The water can penetrate the fire material deeper because of the high discharge speed of the compressed air foam and the reduction of the surface tension by the added foam concentrate.
