Thank you so much Elizabeth for your masterclass tutorial of magnificent roses in silver. I have learnt so many painting techniques from your exemplary first outline, paint strokes, blending, light, shadow and many other details you shared with us. Bravo! ❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing your work, those beautiful roses. Being a newcomer to painting, you inspire me to keep struggling with my... roses. I shall be watching for upcoming videos. Could you say a few things about your palette?

Your roses are beautiful remind me of English Country Roses that smell like heaven ... are I have one named Mary Rose that looks much like the two in the center they have so many petals not like tea roses. As usual your painting is beautiful, wish I could paint the way you do, but am just an everyday painter. There is an artist on here and Facebook I admire a lot named Bill Inman and his style of painting is very similar (in my opinion) to yours. Maybe you know his work, mostly landscapes and is a lovely person. He is a great teacher and gives so many detailed instructions and information while painting. Enjoyed you again I looked at your site and saw the videos for sale. I looked at a preview on the rose one but it still did not show you speaking about what you were doing and what color paints you were blending on your pallet? So am curious if how you give the instructions. Thanks for sharing! I remembered the name of the roses David Austin English Country Roses.....!!
I admire your paintings and your beautiful painting style but I would like to see a much lighter background, even if it traditionally always seem to be dark background to flower paintings-
“Washing the canvas so I’m not fighting the white of the canvas”. I understand why this is done, but it’s difficult to explain! As you are painting, you select various colors to apply to the canvas. You need not only to select the color but also the value of that color. Value means the lightness or the darkness of any particular color. I.e. if the color you are using is in the red family, it can be either a light red or a dark red. Some painters find it easier to select the correct value of a color when the background isn’t so white. They first cover that white with a mid tone value color....a value that is neither light nor dark but somewhere in between...mid tone.
