Im from Jordan, and every summer I visit and make sure I go and watch someone play. I can definitively say, that filip is truly an elite player and trumps many players that Ive heard back home
Quality stuff brother. I had a stressful day and your music put me at ease. God Bless you. I've been following you on your religion channel, and here you are making beautiful music as well. I can tell your song comes from your soul. Your music speaks for it self.
@@FilipHolm Yea man. You're good with the instruments you play. I have an appreciation for Arab instrumentals now. I like that fact that it was a total surprise as well. You never mentioned it on your religion channel. There is something very ancient about your sound. A Very ancient Arabian vibe. 😎
First i was like : wow a sweedish guy knows so much about my rich history than me in some cases , very impressive btw, then i found out that his man plays OUD , what? Yo u got my respect. Big fan of the hard work. Its sad to me that the part of history and the aproach that u present in the videos is almost dead in the arab world, every side if history is treated diferently and often with a wrong kind of looks, from politics and from religion. Any way , plz accept my request to u . I want to ofer my halp, i dont know what would u need me for but i would imagin it would be sth has to do with some of ur limitations, may be translating correctly , researching a topic in arabic and giving a review or a perspective of a native , or maby i can help u with the phonitics of arabic language , i teach arabic in brasil , and i can atleast explain to u how to pronouce the formal arabic , just to help this kind of content.
@@FilipHolm lets have a quick chat about letter ح , lets see how to pronounce it in (wahdat al wojood), and in other examples ، i promis it wont take long. Hit me up
The Swedes sailed the European rivers down into the Persian Byzantine seas and trades for centuries since days of Rome into the Ottoman times. So they picked up alot of other cultures trading not just pillaging viking.
Thank you! It is not a particular model per se, but custom built. It has a rosewood body and red cedar soundboard, so that's what you have to go on if you want a similar sound!
Do you know the names of the notes and it's tuned to what, C? I'm assuming being tuned to C and it being a 12steinged instrument I could immitate the Oud on my 12string Taylor?
I basically learned on my own by listening to the masters. Although there are a lot of tools online that are useful. Check out the channel called Oud For Guitarists. It's a great learning resource
Subhanallah! Really beautiful and the sound is lovely! Is this taqsim based on any particular maqam? I'm new to classical Arabic music (I'm more familiar with Indian raagas), but curious to know more, love your videos!
@@FilipHolm thanks for the quick reply! From what I know, Hijaz is similar to Raaga Bhairav in Hindustani classical music, and that is one of my favourite raagas :)
Depends on where you live, but there could be teachers you can study under. If not then there is a ton of great learning tools online. You definitely should! I also played guitar prior to the oud, and ut does help in some ways. But you also have "unlearn" certain things that you know from guitar
@@FilipHolm yes there is online courses but i am from India, as long I searched Here is not that instrument available to buy. By the way I am glad to see your content about tasawwuff since I am a member of one tareeqa. If I get any platform to chat with you, how glad I will be
A taqsim is an improvised piece, usually without a metre or time signature (however you wanna say it), and it traditionally precedes a composed pieceof music though taqsim has also become a genre.
@@less2worryabout it's Arabic. I believe taqsim music originates in the Levant with strong Persian influence, but I am very likely misremembering this part.
Check out this guy's channel as I was getting into older instruments from around middle east persia Asia few years ago. This was from normal Archeology reading new finds etc ru-vid.com this guy Peter Pringle plays and researches old music found needing transcribing. Cool. I got into this from being into the novels called DUNE and the 2003 Syfy Children of Dune series soundtrack guy used regional instrument playing by hand for the his name was Brian Tyler - you can search them by name on RU-vid here.
