Rosie O’Donnell on The View Book: “I was so angry with how [the author] promoted it” 

Nobody. Nobody. Nobody is more honest than Rosie. She is articulate and rarely flubs a word, because her thoughts are clear and she conveys them well. The hostility toward her all comes from the people on the right who always HAVE TO HAVE someone to trash. She is smart, realistic, articulate, honest, funny, and fair. All adjectives that would never apply to those that take such joy in trashing her. (PS: I'm a big Whoopi fan, but I believe what Rosie says here. Too bad Whoopi's ego got in her way. She and Rosie compliment each other well.)

I think Whoopi thought Rosie was coming for her gig and was being overly protective. The View is notorious for switching their hosts out like light bulbs.

Rosie is spot on.... 2019 is the first year ive actually seen Whoopi engaged in the View....normally she has a "I'm a fuckin Ocscar winner" look on her face. Love Whoopi....but team Rosie on this one

Whoopie was particularly ticked off that the rating that season with Rosie were the biggest numbers the show had seen since Rosie was the shows moderator the first time in 2006. The whole reason ABC/ Barbara Walters brought Rosie back is because Rosie had recently returned to "The view" as a guest the first time since the BIG Elizabeth/Rosie blow up in 2007. The ratings spiked for that show and did NOT go unnoticed by ABC. At that time in 2013 the ratings were at an all time low. "The talk" on CBS was doing better then "The view" in terms of ratings in different parts of the country thus that is when ABC asked Rosie to return as a co-host the following year 2014. Whoopie seemed OK with it. Things got bad when the Bill Cosby story broke. Whoopie defended Cosby for the longest time as did the other two co-hosts. Rosie did not but was shut down every time she introduced facts by bringing super model Beverly Johnson on "The view" to discuss how Cosby drugged her. Rosie had decided to quit again rather then have any issues with Whoopie. She did not have to leave. In fact ABC was ready to fire Whoopie for her continuing to defend Cosby. ABC finally sat her down and told her this is not working. ABC invited one of their investigating reporters to "The view" who knew all there was to know about the Cosby case and on the air Whoopie finally said Cosby was guilty. It was done do to pressure though. I doubt she really believe that to be true. It didn't matter ABC needed her to say that on the air. Had Whoopie not done that she may have been fired? Can you imagine the fall out if that happened and Rosie stayed? Rosie would have been hated and blamed by the black community for Whoopie's firing. Rosie made the right decision to quit.(again) Bummer though because I liked her on "The view".

Whoopi is still not interested in the view

Whoopi is Black, so she attracts her own unique market share. But, IMO, Rosie was a much better host than Whoopi. Rosie is a talented interviewer, and she offers a ton of natural energy to her presence. Whoopi is valium, and for me, mostly boring. Meredith Viera, who is not controversial, was also a fabulous host.

Anyone know where this is from? I want to hear the rest!

I like Rosie, but what I remember from her first go-around on The View was... Rosie dominating more than not. She has a strong, outspoken personality, which I feel is best suited for her own vehicle. JMO.

Kinda naive to think the book wouldn't be a malicious tell all Rosie...

I listened on radio for about 2 minutes. Came in when she was talking about "concentration camps". When entertainment stops becoming entertainment there is no point to tune in.

Whoopi "would just sit there" probably because, at the time, Barbara (the creator of the show) was still there. And there were moments when Rosie was moderator where she was pretty tough, too- like telling Elizabeth she was "babbling." Rosie makes it hard to root for her when she keeps displaying such double standards.

And is a HORRIBLE interviewer! Let get answers your questions and let HER tell the story!

The view is a trash show now and should be off the air.I only watched it the first few years and it went downhill

Whoppi has been holding it down on the View when Rosie ran off, her and Joy weathered this entire Trump storm w Trump even personally attacking Joy.

I remember when she was a VJ on VH1 way back in the day. She was funny and fun then. Being a celebrity can really ruin a person. Plus, she was closeted forever! She only came out when it was okay to be gay. I knew she was gay for years and years and couldn't figure out why she refused to come out and kept talking about how in love she was with Tom Cruise. What a hypocrite.

Rosie, but you got yourself to blame, you left The View when you were the moderator, and then suggested that they should hire Whoopi to replace you on your vlog, you created that monster Rosie!

They need to bring Rosie back to the View, it's been so boring and disappointing lately. But if she was back on, she'd be cancelled for being too honest.

Not buying.some of what she’s saying. Sounds to me like she was trying to take over the show. Pitching in like a team? Meh. Rosie is a very dominating force. That’s just who she is. But Whoopie is too disengaged to be on the show now. They need someone like Rosie badly - just not Rosie. She’s way too angry & harsh now to take on a daily basis.

Rosie has been difficult to deal with in all her jobs, even her first stint on the view. She met her match with Whoopi, and now Rosie wants to play victim.

Rosie gets angry about everything.

Rosie just wants to be liked by everyone, but she is human, She cannot be "on" all the time. She can be intelligent, warm and loving, but at the same time rude, controlling, and dishonest. She calls out everyone else on their behavior but never acknowledges her own contributions to the behavior. Rosie has screamed at people, blackballed people, blown up at people, and gotten people fired from their livelihoods. To me, that is evil, to the core. This may be the reason she has survived in show business, which is cruel, but I will never look at her the same way after perusing this book and hearing other people's accounts of her. Especially people in a lower position than her. When the stage hands and assistants call her a horrible person, I am more apt to believe them,

I loved your earlier tv days interviewing the Osmonds and having your dolls from childhood. You were light, funny, sweet and everyone loved you!
