@@Jay35738 No pin on barrel where threaded into frame, and by the Rossi medallion and grade of wood with glossy finish on the grips. When imported by Interarms, their quality was the best they ever were. The issue with the ejector rod is minor, clean and remove all oil from threads, wouldn't be surprised if retightening properly without lock tite cures it.
I don't understand why people on the web if you don't show that it's unloaded cry a river they act like they're going g to get shot through the computer
This is beyond beatiful, made in my country. Rossi is amazing, do you agree it´s very similar to the Colt revolvers? It reminds me of the Colt Python you know!
It is indeed a wonderful gun but is an almost exact copy of a S&W K-Frame, not a Colt. I have a ventilated rib version which gives mine a somewhat Python appearance.
I had a S&W 586, bought used, that had the ejector rod unscrew when shooting .357. Couldn't push open the cylinder because the end of the rod was getting caught in the shroud...a RO helped me out and showed me what was happening (live and learn). Had to reach in w/ my fingernail and screw the rod back in, bit by bit, before I could get the cylinder open. Loctite fixed things right up.
I think Rossi revolvers are underrated, I ordered the new 6" 357 they just started making again to go with my older stainless 2" Rossi. Should have it next week. Nice guns
I thought i had seen somewhere that they were making revolvers again but I wasn't sure and I kind of forgot about it. Some video I added to my watch later but never got around to watching!
Another nice find. You have a good eye for deals. For hiking you might consider the Ruger SP 101 4”. It’s a stout small framed stainless revolver that people consider a “kit gun”. I pack one I the woods hunting and hiking and never know it’s there. Keep up the good work.
I have one that has no blueing loss, wish I could share my photos with you. It’s honestly one of my favorite shooters. I bought it from a retired Phoenix police officer. He bought it brand new in the early eighties. When I got it from him, it was still in the original cardboard box, with foam insert, and the kicker was it still had the original 6 lead nose 357 rounds that came with it from the factory. I still have all of that, but I have put a few hundred rounds through it. It’s got a better than average trigger. Most everyone thinks who shoots it think it’s a Smith & Wesson.
Man I just got one of these still waiting on Washington state back ground check I paid $75 all it needs is a main screw and I’m ready to go can not wait to complete it and shoot it good video man keep them coming bro
I have one of these and a snub nose matching 38 from Rossi. Bought them from a retired marine who worked security in the late 80s early 90s. He kept the 357 on his hip and the 38 in an ankle holster for backup. They mainly have holster wear at the muzzle but are other wise clean as he hardly fired either of them. Mainly for his yearly security qualification. Good revolvers for the money at the time. I heard they are making these again in stainless. I'd be tempted to get one to have a 6 inch 357.
Awesome video! I have the exact same one in near mint condition that I found at a gun show for $280. I never hear anything about these revolvers which surprises me because they’re great guns
Thats a great deal you got on that, and i think its actually back in production now on the RM63. It at least looks like the exact same gun just with plastic grips
I recently bought a Rossi RM64. It looks exactly like your 971, except for rubber grips. I took my grips off and "971" is stamped on the frame. I can't be sure that every part is the same, but my guess is that they just renamed it after the 971 and other Rossi's were recalled a few years ago. I like my RM 64 too!
It the SP series, S&W owned Taurus and Rossi they are nearly the same thing , they used the same tooling. That's very NICE , GREAT DEAL ! You can fix that finish with Birchwood Cold blue repair kit, clean off all oils , heat it up with a heat gun hot air blower, when use a Q-tip in the clear solution apply where needed two or three times, wipe off with wet rag , if you've got the blue blk color right , then over OIL it let it set with heavy oil for 24 hrs , then wipe it down to normal looking every lite oil . Done like new again.
If you’re looking for a nice holster for this model go to craft holsters and order the Falco 2 way (strong side, cross draw) pancake holster for the Dan Wesson model 15 and it fits this Rossi like a well worn glove!
Very good looking and old school looking revolver! Man, I won (GB as well) a sweet Llama Super Comanche that looked to be in rough shape. Turns out it was still in cosmoline. Cleaned it up & it looked perfect. put 1 round through it & the barrel blew off, lol. Loved the blueing on it though, wish it would of worked out. Seems like no one blues guns like they used too.
only trouble i had was shootin lead loads through it,it would jamup the cyl/force cone clearece that made it hard to rotate cyl, cleaned face of cyl, good to go
I just put one of these on lay away. It is a used one. But the associate told me that the customer he got it from never shot it. The gun is in very good condition. I can't wait to pay it off and take it out to shoot it.
Jay I’m glad you finally dropped a new video. That’s a good looking revolver by the way. It REALLY reminds me of my Ruger Security Six. I freaking love my Security Six personality I like my Security Six as much as my Python and my 586. I mean the Security Six isn’t nowhere near as smooth that the Colt & S&W. BUT I can run my Ruger and hit very VERY good with it. And not feel terrible about running it like I would with the Colt and the S&W. get BLUE Loctite I cannot stress that enough. Do not use red, red is permanent blue just makes sure screws and bolts don’t back out
Thanks bud! After I dropped the last 3 I had some changes at work and I got engaged too! So I've been busy late last year hahaha. I wanna get a security six some time down the line. I'm happy you like yours so much! Thanks for the tip on the loctite too 😀 👍
@@Jay35738 completely understandable I just started a new job myself. I went from a truck driver to a steel worker. Congratulations on the engagement me and my fiancé have been engaged for about a year. We have been waiting on the right time to actually tie the knot.
I find I end up having to Loctite most of my revolvers. I think it is an essential part of any gun toolbox. I cannot agree more... only use blue Loctite. You will eventually have to open a screw up again for whatever reason. With the blue, it takes some torque but it can be loosened again, whereas the red is basically permanently joined together
Not a revolver fan however the stat next to me are banning all auto fed guns. I travel there a lot and will need one. Please tell me the best budget 357 wheel gun for a guy to carry. Concealed and hiking/fishing, doesn’t need to be small. Thanks man.
What about something like the Taurus 605 defender? 3 inch, 5 shots. I have the 856 2 inch as my daily carry. I love it and it's similar to that. Not expensive either
I wouldn't use loctite, I ended up gumming up one of my revolvers with it (the blue) and it was not worth the trouble. If you think you need loctite, you prob have some issues a gunsmith would fix better and more properly.
I have a Rossi model 971 357 magnum caliber. It is a really nice weapon. I have two other Rossi products both lever action rifles. One is 367 magnum as well and the other one I a hoop lever 45-70 caliber. Rossi really makes some nice weapons
I will be getting my Rossi off layaway in a couple weeks. Mine was manufactured by interarms. Does anyone know if this version is a good, reliable one? If so, please share?
I have a question? I have this exact gun. But I noticed that I can move the firing pin up and down. Is this normal? Or is this a problem? Can someone please let me know? Thank you much.
Is it a you tube rule that a reviewer show the viewer that the gun is unloaded? To me, that's a real head scratcher. You're not going shoot anyone sitting on their couch watching their ipad. It should be unloaded prior to making this video.🤔
