Everyone complains about the terrible manual that comes with this Farm Max/ Rossi mower. I hope this video helps you with your assembly.

Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. You are like a great neighbor. I ordered my unit yesterday. I really appreciate your effort! Regards from Northern New York in the ADK mountains.

Thanks for doing this. I turned to the web for help because the manual was so difficult to comprehend. I appreciate your taking the time to video and explain how you did it. I had a difficult time putting the hinge between the base and the bar together, and had to buy a large snap-ring plier to take off and then reinstall the snap and seeger ring.

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. I bought a used one and have been repairing it. This video answered some good questions I had. Please do another on removing the sickle bar for service. Thanks!

My neighbor had one of these. Poor assembly instructions caused him a major problem when something broke immediately. He used to say ( making fun of its' Italian design heritage ) "When dago together wrong, they go wop wop wop wop."

Very informative. Especially where you show the 2 valves on the one way cylinder. We could get mine to go up but not down. We didn't have the 2nd valve installed. Thanks

Thanks, I spent yesterday afternoon trying to assemble my Rossi BFS 210 H (by myself). After turning the page to mounting on the tractor, I figured I'd better find something online. Again, thanks.

Nice piece of kit! The manual now has your video that explains the assembly in a better way. I always do a RU-vid search for other people’s build experiences in these matters. Thanks for posting!

I agree. I always look to RU-vid for videos for build experiences. That's why I try to make videos that will help people.

I wish I found your video before, I wanted to burn that so called manual! Bought a new BFT 135H, that is for a Cat1 tractor. The manual was a b/w copy with very small drawings. Without the part list it was impossible to assemble. The hydraulic cylinder was not in the manual only the model with the chain adjustment was. I got a good drawing from Enorossi in the end but did not succeed in getting the hydraulics working. I think that the +/- assembly is turned shut. Now I know were to look (yes, read the **manual indeed) and will hopefully succeed. The cutting is far to low to the ground now and it cannot handle that. Thanks for giving me courage again!

I reviewed this again. I think the bolts for the sickle bar deflector go the other way, so that the spring and nuts are on the outside.

I have one of these mowers. Like you said (and have so many others also) the instruction manual is terrible. I know it's made in Italy, but I think there's enough of an American market to make it cost-effective for Enorossi to hire a technical writer who is proficient in English and rewrite their manual.

ummm.. the the spring on the deflector bar should be on the outside. when you install it in the video, you put it on the inside. i noticed it was catching grass as it cut

Appreciate the video. I just got a 210 last week but it was assembled. I struggled with just getting it mounted to the tractor correctly, which pin to use- inside/outside. I see how you used the top link pin on the mower, is it working alright like that? The manual info is quite lacking for example: the sickle tension spring- no mention of how tight it should be. I would like to cut a little higher and there in no info for that. I see there are adjustment holes on the skids and wondering if that's what those are for.

It is. that is how you lift the outer end of the bar, the inner end you regulate with your 3point hitch. Or you can probably add spacers to lift the inner skid.

Tim, Great video and help on assembling the Farm Max Sickle Mower. I do have two questions, regarding the hydraulic hookup. My New Holland tractor has a single remote valve, which normally has a supply and return line hooked to the remote cylinder on the equipment. Since there is only one hydraulic line on the mower, does it matter which remote valve on the tractor hooks up to the single cylinder line? Also, what does the lever on the mower hydraulic line do? Thanks again and looking forward to your replies.

I think that lever on the hydraulic line gives you more control on your flow rate. My son hooked this thing up and is the one who uses it. So, I am not sure about that one. I don't think it matters which line you hook to on your tractor. I tell you waht ... I should ask my son and get back to you.

mine has a circular twist valve with +and -, it adjusts the speed for raising and lowering the bar. I do not have the ball valve. It does not matter which remote valve you use.
