Un ""unicum"". Rossini, G. Pretres e l'orchestra. Una "sola cosa". Magnificenza divinamente assortita. Tra l'altro Pretres grande conoscitore ed esperto di Rossini. In una sua intervista di molti anni fa, a domanda chi fosse il più grande genio della musica, rispose: ""Mozart è il genio assoluto. Dopo di lui Rossini"". Concordo, modestamente, da appassionato.

BTW, to anyone not familiar with La Fenice, this is a total reconstruction of the original theatre which was completely destroyed in a fire 30 years ago. It's an absolute triumph and the city of Venice and the Italian State deserve high credit for restoring it to pretty much exactly what had gone before.

Very well said. I had the privilege of attending Maestro Pretre's guest appearance conducting the Boston Sympathy Orchestra over a half century ago -- an experience that, at now 82, still lives vividly in my memory. What a joy to rediscover his marvelous conducting in these videos!!!

Of all the fine opera houses in the World, I think perhaps La Fenice is the most beautiful of all. So sensible of the Italians to restore/rebuild it after the disastrous fire of a few years back.

I repeat almost all the wonderful praises of this musical production: non esistono aggettivi per definire l ouverture di Rossini, sono semplicemente meravigliose e travolgenti; Un grande direttore per una fantastica orchestra,eccezionale dire zione impeccabile orchestrali perfetti But the videographers are trop m'as tu vu !!! NO! I want to see the orchestra and its musiciens and its fine diretorre at work. The patrons and theatre are quite tertiary

The conductance of George Pretre is superb as well as fabulous view of theatre La Fenice where Rossini gave many melodramatic compositions during his long stay in Italy before the departure to Paris in the last period of his life by working as composer of various melodramatic operas at the theatre aux italiens.Italiana in Algeri is looking like the Ratto del serraglio from Mozart in view of the Turcherie that characterized his period of time.

Con estas melodías crecí en mi pueblo manizales donde los domingos mi padre nos llevaba a la retreta de los domingos en la plaza principal donde estas obras eran interpretadas por la banda municipal ,que recuerdos me trae de mi infancia y así nació mi gran afición a la música clasica
