THE ORGAN OF ÉGLISE DU COLLÈGE ST-MICHEL
1764 Construction of an organ by Bihler of Constance.
1827/28 Modifications by Aloys Mooser and Johann Haller.
1892/93, 1948 Interventions by E. Schaefer and Goll.
1954 The Council of State of Friborg decides that the organ of Hauterive Abbey
(built by A. Mooser in 1826, modified by J. Scherrer 1856, Spaich 1892 and 1908, Wolfgiusto 1912 and Kuhn 1931)
is dismantled and integrated into that of St-Michel College by Kuhn.
1997/98 Restoration by Kuhn.

I am an Army vet ... now a teacher in Japan, 63 years old, and stuck in a house because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This LITERALLY moved me and my wife to tears! Bravo Mr. Scott! Bravo! My applause is from half way around the world!

The March of the Swiss Soldiers and Call to the Cows are two parts of this work that live and breathe wonderfully well on theatre organ. I have heard the Storm movement played on theatre organ as well, and it is breathtaking, with the thunder rolls and cymbal crashes! Glorious!

The breeziest 13 minutes in music history! It just flows so well from section to section, immersing you in the music and scenery it invokes and before you know it, you given up a quarter of an hour that you can’t get back, but wouldn’t trade for anything! Beautiful rendition! 👍 👍

Let me add, I've not been so moved by a performance on the organ since I saw the late Virgil Fox play in Grand Rapids, MI back in 1972. I swore I was walking on air after that concert (with a fantastic light show). I bet I would feel the same after a concert by Johnathan.

This piece has been a favorite of mine since 3rd-grade when I made the connection between the TV show and the classical piece. THIS is one of the best performances I've seen om RU-vid.

Watching you two again and again I repeatedly marvel at how you do it … Jonathon with his hands and feet and Tom with his cameras coordinated so seamlessly with the hands and feet. I’m your grateful fan in San Diego, CA. By the way, we boast the largest outdoor pipe organ in the world along with our own civic organist!! The organ pavilion is in Balboa Park which also includes our world famous zoo. (Our animals are unusually cultured!). What a thrill it would be for you to grace our fair city with your sumptuous artistry!!

I was in music class in high school. The teacher put an LP on his record player and told the class to put a hand up as soon as they recognized it. A couple of hands went up almost immediately. I got a funny feeling when we got to the staccato part, but the melody that started right after that got my hand up and several others too. The rest of the class followed suit when the Lone Ranger theme started. Now I am 77 my eyes don't stay dry for long. It's wonderful on the organ. Ich war im Musikunterricht in der High School. Der Lehrer legte eine LP auf seinen Plattenspieler und forderte die Klasse auf, eine Hand hochzulegen, sobald sie sie erkannten. Ein paar Hände gingen fast sofort hoch. Ich hatte ein komisches Gefühl, als wir zum Staccato kamen, aber die Melodie, die gleich danach begann, hob meine Hand und einige andere. Der Rest der Klasse folgte dem Beispiel, als das Thema Lone Ranger begann. Jetzt bin ich 77 und meine Augen bleiben nicht lange trocken. Es ist wunderbar auf der Orgel. I am out of words to describe the genius and brilliance of Jonathan Scott . In my opinion, he ranks as the greatest living organist. My only question is when is he going to bring his talent to the United States?

I hope when he does he also goes to Canada. There is a museum in Quèbec City that incorporates an old church (deconcecrated), and it still has 2 organs (one built in the 30s, the other built in the 90s as a museum exhibit to replicate the original organ from the 1800s). I think it would be awesome to see Jonathan do an arrangement that incorporates both organs, there aren't too many places in the world where he'd get such an opportunity.

Mr. Scott has done a wonderful and tasteful rendition. Please do not misconstrue my comment regarding his performance. His command of the organ and tasteful registration is wonderful! but! when someone else stated that "An intellectual is someone who can listen to the William Tell Overture without thinking of the Lone Ranger." all of a sudden my mind went to a vision of Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny. When I first had Intro to Music History in college our Professor had spent a considerable amount of time putting together snippets of video's and cartoons that contained classical music, hence why my thoughts went to Bugs and Elmer.

Well done Mr Scott for playing this piece of music on this wonderful organ with its slight limitations; one minor comment I could have done with less affectation in the early part of your playing. More shots of the organ it self rather than a travel log of the area in this could have been more interesting. But still very enjoyable in these difficult times.

Some people prefer musical pieces, such as “Tell” in their original form-orchestral. There is no reason to denigrate them! Just enjoy this performance, as beautiful and original it is. Rossini, as a composer and an individual, loved to joke around, loved unusual interpretations of his music, w/o being rigid.
