Both phenomena have been declassified. Phoenix lights is sky flares, I've seen this happen myself, but I will not spoil Roswell. But to a nerd like me, it is actually something much cooler than probe-y aliens.

@@jul1440 not true. I was about 30 feet under the tip of the left wing of the craft. It was absolutely solid, about a mile wide. The light of the craft looked like thick lava, glowing, dripping down, stopping and returning back up into the craft. I saw the craft mostly horizontally with my headlights on it and a nearby street light. it was a solid, single piece of machenery.

Think of it this way, even in the late 90's the internet was abuzz with geeks. If aliens have ever been to Earth, you can bet it would be in every headline from here to Timbuktu. Remember, "UFO" quite literally just means you have absolutely no idea what the heck it is. I saw a UFO in my childhood. It was not until my adulthood that I realized what I had seen: a head-on meteor, probably with a good bit of 'English' to it.
