I love that Shiri and Majandra had this joint interview together. Some of the strongest scenes on the show were the friendship scenes between Liz and Maria. Totally natural chemistry and I loved that the characters always found strength in each other
This was definitely on the top of my favorites list I loved Roswell!!!! My daughters and I watched it every week! It was the chemistry between the characters, actually the chemistry between the actors that made the show so fantastic! so later on I introduced Roswell to my granddaughters and they stayed up all night binge watching the series and loved it and they introduced it to their friends so it just keeps it going even though it ended way too soon.
I loved this show! And I loved how Shiri and Majandra felt so strongly about and protective of their characters, especially when their characters had to go through heartaches. I also like the fact that Shiri didn't really like Tess coming in and messing with Liz and Max. I feel the same. I love Emilie De Ravin, she's a great actress, but I hated the character Tess! She was nothing but a jealous manipulator from the start. She didn't even love Max or even really care about him. She tried sending him and the other two to their deaths!! She had no chemistry with Max and never did. And he never even cared about her until he had to. She always took advantage of him and took advantage of the situations he was in to seduce him. Liz was always the one he was meant to be with. Max literally chose Liz over Tess millions of times and chose her over his whole destiny dozens of times. He said his destiny was Liz. And it always was. Tess was nothing more than someone they all needed to use. They only had to keep her around for her powers, other than that, they didn't really care for or need her for anything else. I did like the whole Sean/Liz thing though too. If it didn't end up working out with Max, I think Sean was the perfect match for Liz. He was the perfect human for her to be with.

I was 12 when it came so I didnt watch it when it first aired but is 2013 and I watched and I swear is the best series I've seen in my whole life!! Just wish it could have been longer!!
This brings back great memories. Out of all the “teen” shows on TV growing up, this one was by far my favorite. I loved Maria, especially when she had the pixie haircut. That first season was wonderful. The Pilot, Monsters, 285 South, Independence Day, Brendan’s hair, Kyle’s humor, and omg... Sexual Healing 😱. My best friend would tape the shows and she kept pausing and slow-moing it when Jason took off his shirt, lol. Then there was Tess. I mean what kind of a name is that anyway? Ugh. She screwed up everything. Anyways, it was a great show.
I recently watched Roswell at Hulu. Love the show again. Thank you sooooo mucho for upload this interview. I loved it. They were so real and candid in their expressions and thoughts about the sow. I loved it. Ty ty ty
I am so glad Majandra said that. Michael was horrible to Maria and she just took it time after time. I hated that. His character grew up and starts acting like a good person and then she dumps him.
I loved this show so much that I missed most of my birthday party just to see the series finale hahaha ... my mom was pretty mad at me, but it was worth it, and I'll do it again if I have to ;) BRING "ROSWELL" BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Interesting listen. It is odd looking back how they sexed the characters up in the second season compared with the first especially in Maria's case. Like they took an active role in the direction of their characters. Think the Shawn plot with Liz was needed I agree.
You know what i came here after rewatching all the season.. And thats totally not make sense i'm digging my childhood favourite show.. I mean like now i am 26 and the impact of this series really huge u know, like how come i remember the show when i am 12 years old.. Goshhh.. I remember how i am really love Max and i hope i will found a boyfriend who is alien.. Omgeeeee
Maybe if all the fans once again sent a bottle of hot sauce to the wb studio like they did during the first season when they feared cancelation, we might get our Roswell back! Just a thought.
+Jillsepticeye theres a part on this DVD extras, where Shiri acts like a total "bitch" about the show... something like "its over, just move on".... which is sad cause for a long time she didnt have "any good role" after roswell. Actually her "movie resume" its quite pathetic. Maybe she thought that.... after roswell "better things would come"....but it didnt. Even know, i think "Unreal" just sucks. I love this actress, but i think she was a bit "rude" with the fans and "overconfident" about her future after Roswell ended. After Roswell, only the "Dating Rules from My Future Self" was entertaining for me. I also dont know why Jason Behr "couldnt make it" after the show ended. I think season 1, and half of the season 2 were amazing. The rest....crap. And after 16 years, i can only enjoy season 1. The rest is to damn cheesy for me. They get rid of all the "sci fi" stuff after season 1, and made it more "romance cliche drama".... writers fucked the serie. So sad, cause i tough they have the potential to made a lot of alternative stories, not only focusing on chessy weak teenage drama. Like for example, more about the Planet they came from.
I remember when I first watch this was when Netflix first had it on years ago (so sad they took it off tho) but I had fell in luv I don't think I've felt a certain way about a tv show, I'm currently reading the first book & i feel like i might like the book more then the show but it to soon to say I still gotta hunt down the other books to read the whole series. Also did u guys know max is supposed to be a blonde & blue eyes? It's so weird to picture him that way I just see Jason behr.
Omgg I've seen this serie like 10 times already from season 1 to season 3 I love it!! The only thing I didnt like is that Liz was always there for Max after he slept with Tess like if nothing happened I wish she would had play hard to get!!
Iris Medrano Liz was very upset about Max and Tess, but she couldn't rightfully blame him as she herself had caused it to happen. Remember Max from 2014 came to her and asked her to help him fall out of love with her ,so he would be with Tess. Max told her that the closer they got the worse things got with Tess.Tess eventually left but it turned out that she was more important then they knew. Without her they were weaker and their enemies took over causing many deaths. Liz did as future Max asked and told present Max that she couldn't be with him because it was too dangerous for her. Liz's "I don't want to be a tragedy" speech almost worked, but present Max wasn't convinced, so Liz got Kyle to help her give the illusion that they had slept together by having Max see them in bed together appearing to be naked. Max was devastated and vulnerable, and Tess used it to seduce him.

Jose Barrera They didn't have too, because they had already dealt with that in the second season. Max learned that Liz didn't sleep with Kyle and Liz was furious when she learned Tess was pregnant causing her to go off on Max, making him realize she still loved him . They came to realize how much they still loved each other and wanted to be together. Liz came to terms with what happened because she knew she had been the one to break up with Max and had caused it. Once they found out about Tess's betrayal and she was out of the way it cleared the way for them to get back together. Liz couldn't stay mad at Max or continue to harp on it because as they had broken up he really hadn't done anything wrong.
Now we know why characters fans enjoyed romatically went through crap romances with no chemistry. The actors complained about kissing the same people over and over. And instead of natural storytelling to build up a why it just changed drastically due to alien issues of the end of the first season. I love the show, but I also remember the many complaints fans had with everything in S2 (not just romances). The lost so much of the fanbase that season, that S3 storyline getting better didn't bring enough fans back to avoid cancellation. Good thing the end of S3 was graduation and could make a series finale moment out of it.
Natalie Zayas-Bazan that is not true about Michael. He loved Maria more than anything in the world, but he recognized the dangers of being in a serious relationship with her. He was afraid of his powers and the possibility of physically hurting her. The worst thing he did was push her away when Isabel thought she was pregnant. Max and Michael being aliens made their romances difficult.
Marisa Andres it was around the time that Max started getting closer to Tess. He started becoming more of a royal jerk instead of a royal king. When he was with Tess, Max tried to act like a king and boss everyone around and make final decisions for them and tell them what to do. And in doing so, he alienated everyone around him making everyone turn their backs on him. Isabel especially, Liz, Even Michael called him out on it. Tess tried to get him to act more king like but the more he listened to Tess, the more of a total jerk he became. Tess coming in and manipulating him and everything around her ruined Max's character and ruined a lot of things. If you look back on an episode where Max was telling Isabel in the desert that she couldn't go to a far away college, and that they would talk about it later, you can see Tess smiling as her and Max walk away because he was being a controlling "king".
I don't get why all of you Max/Liz shippers always ignore that Liz pretended to have sex with Kyle in order to push Max away. Stop giving Max so much criticism. He BEGGED her to give him another chance and she pushed him away. Don't take it out on Tess. Nobody forced Max to sleep with her.

And she was always in his ear telling him how to be more of a king, and the more he listened the more controlling and the more of an ass he became. She even smiled when he was bossing Isabel around in the desert telling her she couldn't really go to a far away college. She loved when Max was controlling everyone and trying to make final decisions for everyone. And the more she helped him become a royal jerk instead of a royal king, the worse he got with everyone until everyone was turning their backs on Max. And the worse it got with Liz and how he was in denial that Alex could have been killed by an alien, Tess was right there in Max's ear and trying to manipulate a situation to her advantage. She followed him around like a little puppy waiting for any and every opportunity to swoop in and manipulate Max into giving into her her. The more he became involved with Tess, the worse his character got. She tried to make Max be something he wasn't.
Let's be clear about this: Nobody forced Max to do anything. Max admitted in Season 3 that he genuinely cared about Tess and it was clarified that those feelings were not a mind warp. Did Tess hang around him a lot? Yes, but he could have pushed her away. He didn't. He was tired of being stuck in an unhealthy cycle and he believed that Liz slept with Kyle.
iluvlafferty she took advantage of him and manipulated the situations to her advantage. And she actually did force him to do stuff, through manipulation. When she was pregnant, she mind warped him to see that the baby was in "danger" making him see that the baby couldn't live on Earth so she forced him to make the decision to go back to Antar. And of course he wasn't going to push her away. She was literally the only one who seemed to be by his side when everything was going wrong. But again, because she used every single opportunity she could to take advantage of him. She could have been there for him like an actual friend, and not have tried to get with him, but no, she used the bad situations he was in to her advantage to seduce him to her side. She was always taking advantage of him, and he was too blind to see it. Yes, he said he cared about her, but it's mostly because she seduced him into it. No denying that he cared about her, as a team mate/part of the group, but let's be honest, he never even cared about her in any romantic way until things started falling apart with Liz and everyone around him that he had no choice but to turn to her. Max didn't even care about her that much before all that. Even Zan, the one from NY, didn't even care about/love Ava(Tess) that much. And the set from NY were supposed to be more like the original set from Antar. Neither Max, nor Zan really cared about or loved Tess/Ava. They only needed Tess/Ava because it made the royal four stronger. They only needed her powers. There was never a true love or any sort of romance between the two. She honestly had better chemistry with Kyle than she ever did with Max.
Be aware that the character of Tess does not exist in the books as well as the 4 royals and Kivar. In the books, the fourth alien is named Adam and he is killed by Max. I had read somewhere written by Katims that Tess manipulated Max in the episodes "Max in the City", "Viva Las Vegas" (yet I didn't see any interactions between the two) "Heart of Mine" and "Off of the Menu".
