Appreciate the demonstration, I'm thinking I bought a rotary cutter without design for ease of seeing what you are cutting. You did this so easily, but I couldn't see where the blade was for all the plastic surrounding the blade, and kept slicing into the pattern, frustrating. You can see the blade edge easily it appears?

I bought a Fiskers by the way, (not happy with it, not being able to see the blade as it barely extends away from thick plastic guards), and I am trying to find information on seeing what one is cutting, and found your video . I can see why quilters have no problem with the Fiskers I have, using a ruler straight edge, but realize I need either tricks or likely a better cutter for pattern cutting.

I get it. I have 3 different brands. My favorite is the Cricut with the 60mm blade. The blade has to be sharp so that’s a bit of an investment otherwise it becomes frustrating to use. I try to make sure my pattern is on the left side of the blade so I can see properly so I’m not cutting blind.

I'm afraid there are some occasions when you can't teach an old dog new tricks! I have been pinning and cutting with scissors for over 50 years. I tried the rotary cutter, yes, trying to be modern but I felt a bit reckless with it and not in control... back to the scissors.

It took me a while to get used to the rotary cutter. I still go back and forth depending on the type of fabric I’m cutting. No shame in using the scissors! Do what works best for you!
