Rotary Hammer Drill Restoration | Hitachi Rotary Hammer Drill 

I know a lot of people who never use any sort of electric drill or driver for screws like this, but all it takes is a little skill to learn when to let up on the trigger and a bit of pressure on the bit so it doesn't strip. This is why when I am wiring a house I get it done faster than other electricians because I use my impact driver for almost every screw. But it does take time to learn the limits on everything.

I originally bought the Dewalt air hammer ru-vid.comUgkxqqoaX03nrziKwF7Bjjcc71YzLEleMvOS (I buy Dewalt everything), but was really disappointed in the lack of power. I did a lot of research and finally bought this Ingersoll 114GQC air hammer to try it out. I was actually concerned how little it cost, and was afraid it couldn't be that good. Let me tell you that this air hammer is awesome. This Ingersol air hammer simply blew the Dewalt out of the water on head to head tests. I tried both for prepping my concrete steps for stone veneer. The Dewalt couldn't get out of its own way. It consumed all the air in my 27 gallon compressor with minimal results to show. I finally took out my hand chisels and hammer and they did much better than the Dewalt. Next day this Ingersol air hammer came, and I tried it. WOW!!! I am a Dewalt guy, but not for air hammers. All I can say is this Ingersol is a great air hammer and a complete deal for $35 bucks. I took some pics and a few short videos that attempt to show the power difference. Unfortunately I couldn't hold my phone and use the devices at same time, so I did the best I could. I could only upload one video, so I chose the Ingersol; see how it shakes my hand. Trust me the Dewalt was blah...

Respect! 👍. One question about mounting new bearings. Is it bad for a bearing to be hammer on an axe? Always hammer on the inside ring not the whole outside. The side force will damage the bearing i think?

I like the color choice! Gives it a "government property" aesthetic, much like black and yellow graphing calculators at school. I really appreciate how you go about your work. I think we have similar thought processes, but your skills are definitely more refined than mine. Oh and it is SO COOL to see vintage Japanese stuff. I would love to see you restore an old cigarette or soda vending machine.

The upper body looks very similar to an old Makita hammer drill I have, also an awesome machine. Although this one looks even more rugged and refined. A tip, don't hold yourself up with bad or worn out drills and save yourself lots of time and energy; good drills make any job much easier.

Are there any companies out there making all metal tools like this today? I swear if someone made a limited edition "super premium" or "industrial" line with all metal enclosures and innards, it would sell like crazy, even if they cost double their plastic counterparts. I just can't imagine someone restoring todays tools in 20-30 years.. I'm pretty sure they don't make an Evapo-rust for plastic.. EDIT: Oh, and that thing is a beast. Went through that cement block like butter.

I never understood why does he put sealant on the screws. If it were Loctite (or similar) I would understand, because that prevents on the screws getting loose, but a sealant??. Anyway, it's a pretty damn good work. I would prefer red than yellow, but his machine, his decision

Hola cordial saludo tengo un taladro de esos pero no se si funciona con aceite o grasa. Podrías indicarme el depósito está básio al parecer es grasa pero tiene 2 compartimentos y un orificio tapado con un tipo de trapo gracias de ante mano no le puso aceite ??????

Be careful with glass tubes like that! They contain some kind of glue (resin I think), and AFAIK they are pressurized! Don't get that in your eyes!
