Great video thanks Chris. Very informational. I worked at a BP station that had auto service. We had a lift like this. I always wondered how they worked.

Did hear somewhere that it is not recommended to drill all the way through the concrete, since it is possible to knock a big chunk of concrete in the bottom which greatly reduces the structural integrity of the concrete. Not sure if this is a truth, but at least sounds very reasonable.

Having a issue lowering lift lowering valve is clean and clear , but can't find check valve to lower help would be appreciated.

We just put two new ones up in our shop, symmetric 10klb. Like said these aren't that hard to put up with general skills. Two guys can stand each post up as they only weigh about 600lbs each, most is at the base and the carriage assembly. Im surprised they didn't mention putting a grout under the baseplates as this is what we did to spread the load of the footprint, along with using the shims to level each post.

Grouting is a nice touch but only necessary for over 1/2" of shim. Use machinery grout and wait 24 hours before use.

The installer sounds just like my brother in law, he's from Michigan too. He knows what he's talking about, he's clearly installed lots of these lifts.

Do you mean PLUMB on the post, your not just leveling the bottom plate are you????

"Drill all the way through the floor" Damn. That is the kind of knowledge you only aquire by NOT doing it one time and then cursing for a couple of hours while correcting your dumb mistake =P Great to know =D

@@MagaRickn The reason MANY installers WITH EXPERIENCE ( and yes it does happen to people with experience) do this is just in case you are off or mess up with measurements then you can pound the studs thru the concrete into the dirt, then not having to worry about raising the column over the studs just to move it over a few inches or for other reasons that may come up during installation. Rare but it does happen, AKA "Murphy's Law" The empty hole that you will not use can be filled with Mortar, concrete OR epoxy. AND just some info, No one uses Epoxy on a fresh/ one-time install unless you have bad or cracked concrete and if that is the case, just break it out and install concrete pads for safety reasons. I think I know the company or person who mentioned to use Epoxy. This company or installer is completely wrong and I will not mention the company or person. This may be the same person who calls "equalizer cables" ......."Equilibrium cables" , LMFAO Cables do not lose their equilibrium and do not get dizzy. I had to laugh at this so called pro-installer!
