SOVL would make for a fun YogsCast tournament game like TABS. Single elimination with winners getting to advance to the next bracket with larger armies.
Oh, the guys who created a game that's an exact 1 to 1 ripoff of Warhammer uses lazy machine generated art, you say? Gosh. I'm shocked. Surprised, even. Honestly, it's a shame. They'd be on to something if they put literally any effort into the worldbuilding and art.
I tell you, in a time of pre-internet (also known as poor) when I could get 50 older white dwarf mags on the cheap-cheap, those things got read endlessly. I immediately understood the reference, and I'm proud of you for making it.
def a warhammery warhammer game. I don't play, but I got the same sort of excitement watching as I would a real table top session. Before I knew it, 28 minutes had passed.
Gun lines seem to be really good in this game. Dwarf Deep Guard "ironbreakers" with rifles absolutely wreck face. I do wish they had an overrun mechanic or a reform as sometimes if I beat a unit, the winning unit is left with it's ass hanging out ready to be charged. You frequently don't want to charge a fleeing regiment because they are going to be able to strike back.
As someone who grew up reading White dwarf, I love the battle report asthetic. Surprised it took this long for someone to basically make WHFB the game.
Never knew about this game until this vid came across my feed. Absolutely delighted at a legally distinct Warhammer Fantasy game! I love it! Thank you so much!
Just picked this up yesterday, it's a ton of fun and i really hope we get some folks in the modding community to put some 8th edition units and rules in there.
So as a regular player as a game I was interested when i started seeing reviews saying people came to the game because of you. Thanks its a lovely game and i absolutely adore seeing it grow! Got your self a sub buddy :D
This is super cool! Seems to feel just like playing a boardgame, which is ofc not always what you want out of a game but this seems to scratch the Warhammer itch very well
Not a huge fan of the AI-artwork, but I guess if you're gonna use it somewhere, this kind of indie game that wouldn't have maybe ANY art otherwise is where it's kinda ok.
Oh heck yea, Tom is playing this amazing game. I've played a lot of this game since I found out about it a few days ago. It seems that for the campaign, ranged units are the answer. I finished the Dwarf and Elf campaign by just spamming bolt throwers/cannons and tons of ranged units. Also, would be cool to see PvP battles between you vs other Yogscast members.
Knew this was coming when I saw the stream. So glad. I've been playing it myself. Won a run with a Ratkin gunline last night that just evaporated their cav/monstrous units. Suffered against big blobs but that's what the clanrats are for.
Holy shit, this is like nostalgia for a thing that never actually existed. Does White Dwarf not do battle reports anymore? I haven't read them since I was about ten...
This with proper animated 3d figures would be amazing. A button to switch between the 3d view and the overhead view would give us the best of both worlds
I've been playing this, but I feel like they rig the dice rolls to up the difficulty in later levels, I've lost to the last boss multiple times due to them passing every discipline roll and me failing every single one.
