I have the Custom, installed a night rider 42” double row in the grill.Love it. And is street legal from Saskatchewan all the way east, ECE certified. Not legal here in Alberta but I haven’t been bother by police yet, but I ain’t a ass n blinding ppl with it either
So awesome you did a video on this. EXACTLY what I've been researching to do the same over the past couple weeks. Now that you mentioned the Siberia Strands light bar, I think I may roll with that one! The double row dimensions look about the same (even a tiny smaller) as the RC bar you got. Just a little more $$! Gotta save up my pennies :) Thanks for bringing it to my knowledge. Also love that you can swap between amber and white on the DRL - will go nicely with the light strip I installed above the grille. Keep up the good content! Looking forward to the wiring video.
I think you would benefit by installing the upfitter, I installed on my 2021 3500hd took just over an hr. it was an extremely simple install they look great. when I installed my 42-inch LED bar behind the grill, I wired it to the number 1 AUX works great, looks great, and it's clean,
O I forgot to mention, I have a suggestion for ya, install some PPF on the face of it, I installed some on mine, great protection from road debris. I also installed some under my mudflaps where there mounted to body, installed some on wheel well edging to prevent rock chips. Got a set of diode dynamics fog lights that haven’t been installed on truck yet but will also be putting some on those as well. I’m an auto body tech by trade and u would be amazed on how much mud flaps, wheel flares, anything really that’s mounted to body will rub completely through ur paint down to metal.
I hadn't seen this one and I'm glad I did. I notice Don has become more comfortable or polished in his video productions since this one was released. I'll be looking into this install in greater detail as I am wanting a bumper mount front facing LED like this. I need to watch the wiring video as I want the light to operate with the high beams. Maybe Don shows which wire to tap? I looked into the GMC Harley Edition parts issue Don mentioned. It would be so nice just to order the HD Edition front valance parts but its not going to happen... ever. I found out the HD Edition GMC trucks are custom built by an upfitter called Tuscany Motor Co. I also found out more than a few other people have asked them to sell parts but they adamantly refused. I guess they don't want their signature builds being diluted with non HD trucks using their HD parts. As a side note... I bought a brand new 2009 CVO Ultra Classic which is one of the top models of the HD line. I found out how possessive HD was about those models when I wanted some color matched paint for some custom body parts I wanted to install. HD made it hard as hell getting the OEM paint code so I could buy the paint for the job. In the end I got the paint but not without it getting out of hand. Maybe HD is part of the reason why no one can get GMC trucks parts from Tuscany?
Thanks for the feedback. I sometimes have to go back to my earlier videos to reference things (yes I forget sometimes). In doing so, I noticed a big difference in presentation and editing style. Changing editing software helped too.
Got it to work! Now, i gotta figure out where to mount the front license plate without it covering the light bar! Not sure if you recommend drilling into the bumber
Holy crap you aren't joking about removing the lower valance! Nevermind I'm sauced from playing the drink every time you say "valance" game but no clue how you got a ratchet in on those corner ones! I'm about to take my second crack at it after Amazon delivered to me a flex head ratchet, a straight ratchet, and a combo open/closed box end wrenches in 7mm!! You said the same thing about removing the mirror caps, I just reinstalled my painted mirror caps and it went pretty smooth, just got lucky but this lower valance can go fly a kite! And I ended up going with the curved strands, wish me luck 🤞 if it has more of a curve then the front of the truck I'll be mad.
Bro that was the most infuriating task I've ever taken on and I'm upset I ever found your channel!!! 😅😅 Somehow even my legs are cramped after doing that!! In another universe you made this video removing the bumper instead and the world was at peace and there was no crime.... LOVE THE VIDEOS KEEP IT UP!! 😡 Some sarcasm above if not obvious!
been wanting to do this since i got the truck but never could figure out where this cover was from..note to self, order " Diesel Style Front Cover Plate " thanks for always providing info!!
Don, I love your videos and this was another good one. For me, I have the fogs rigged to run when the run lights are on. I’d be curious to see if the led bar is any improvement over that. A view from the cab would have been a good addition to this. Also, like many others, curious to see which direction you went with the wiring. I’m hanging on every Sierra video you make. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the feedback! The light bar for me is just as much for the aesthetic as it is for light output. This may not be the lightbar I keep running either. I needed a starting point before deciding where I could go from here in that space. Thanks for watching!
Another fantastic video Don! Looking forward to the wiring info… really curious about options considered and your decision. Thank you for your great content!
Great job on light bar install. Looks good and tight. I like the location but in my state we have to run a front license plate. I was thinking about looking for low profile light bar to place between grill openings then wired to high beam on/off control. Do you know of any I should look into? I also liked the montage. Cool slow-mo drafting.
Thanks! Rough county makes some for good prices. Rigid has the best of the best. There are so many options. For me low temperature operation was important too
Thanks, I ran it through the driver’s side firewall. There is a spot on both sides. I point it out in this video : New Switch Panel AUXBEAM AR-800 RGB Multifunction Bluetooth LED Install and Review. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nlDsZFIrpA4.html
Don, now that you have installed the 20 inch light bar, do you think the 22 inch Strand “Siberian” will work with your current set up? I really like your executed plan.
Really nice video, now that you installed the RC 20'' light bar do you think a 22'' would fit or would it be to wide? Keep up the great videos - P.S. I'm a new subscriber and have enjoyed all your videos :)
I was thinking bout doing the exact samething to mine but I was nervous about making that cuts into anything while I still got a warranty 🤣. Where did you locate the valance and do you have a part#?
The part number is in the video description. Also if you ask the GM parts dept to use a VIN from a 3.0 Diesel AT4 they can find the ‘front plate’ that way too

I am surprised sense you bought from rough country you didn’t just buy the bull bar with integrated light bar. I am sure it is something you didn’t want because of no DRL but maybe something to look at later down the road? I am planning on getting a RC bull bar not sure for the light bar or not, tho I am very much looking forward to the wiring video. I love our truck Don, you’ve got great taste!
Thanks! I passed on the bull bar, partially because I can barely fit in my garage and around here powder coated bull bars and bumpers seem to be rusting after a couple seasons.
@@Donslife fair enough, Canada is a blessing and a curse at the same time I suppose? Well either way your truck still looks amazing with the new bar, can’t wait for more videos
Nice videos. Not sure if I’m missing it but do you have a list of all part numbers used to do this mod? Also I saw your video of the upgraded bar I think I’ll go that way from the beginning. Thanks I’m advance I also have the upfitter installed and will go that way on the install if you have any advice I’m happy to hear it.
Is there any way to connect this light bar for the dtr lights to automatically work and the full light bar activate with my high beams without any switch? Only reason being I don’t want any added switches in my trucks interior
Yes you need to run relays and fuse taps for each feature. Depending in the light bar you purchase, it may come with the necessary wiring and relays. You’ll just need to get some fuse taps for your DRL fuse and High Beam fuse.
It is the Diesel front plate. Part number from GM is in the video description. Uses all the same mounting points, it is just has an opening between the hooks now. Ships in gloss black
I bought them locally at a store in Canada called Canadian tire. I think several hardware stores and even Amazon would have something that could be used

@@Donslife well, not sure how I commented on this video. I was watching the raptor light video. So, for the raptor lights what size wire did you use? And while we’re here, what size wire for the light bar on the bottom front of the truck?
@@Donslife Just wanna say you are a big inspiration for me. I have got a whole list of ideas I wanna do to my truck. Including mounting a light bar just like yours this weekend. I have a Gmc sierra double cab
thanks for trying to describe it to me, i haven't found a 7mm tool that can get behind that metal bracket, might just paint it while it's on the truck when it is warmer out
What did you use to get to the front valance off? Do you have a video on how you got to the corner bolts? Im struggling getting anything to latch on since its such a slim spot.
Small delicate hands, small wrench and socket. They were so hard to reach I had to use two hands and couldn’t film it. Hard to remove, but not impossible
i assume you didnt trim the factory valance cover and put it back on? i know you mentioned it in your video but didnt see anywhere that you trimmed it, unless it got edited out
Quick ? Boss I have my led bar directly mounted to my battery 2020 Sierra 1500 my battery started to drain a lot and both remote disconnected from the pickup do we have to put all accessories to a second battery and if we do install one does that void warranty?
Sort of, but it was just wiring to my Auxbeam 8 gang panel. This probably doesn't help you though. Since the RC light bar comes with the required relays as part of the harness, it is just a matter of connecting positive and negative to the battery and running your toggle switch into the cab somewhere.
@@Donslife gas. I guess that bumper portion is slightly different according to the shop. They can't seem to find a way to take off that part. It's all 1 piece according to them
I can’t recall exactly but maybe 3” on one end 4” on the other end. Width 1”-1.5”. I cut mine down to size too. You maybe need washers or something to act as spacers/shims depending on the lightbar brackets
Love the channel and the content! It's very well done, and you seem like a considerate person, so don't think what I'm about to say is directed at you. Your truck already has massively bright headlights and "fog" lights, so what is the need for this light bar? In the area I live in, this state (Oklahoma) has done away with inspection stickers, and I frequently see big trucks with lights misadjusted pointed in the face of on-coming traffic. Generally this is because the truck has been lifted or the rear sits lower than the front, which is a trend I do not understand, and the headlights were never adjusted. With no inspection, there's no one to stop this behavior. In addition, "sagging" looks ridiculous and has to reduce visibility for the driver. A good number of these trucks also have bar lights installed and often on, running down the road. I don't get the need and it seems like they use it as a BIG FU to everyone else. Most of these trucks also have American flags, along with republican signs any hanging out the back, so that gives you an idea of the mentality I'm talking about. Does this kind of behavior happen in Canada?
Thanks for the respectful reply. We have a variety of tastes and behaviors in Canada too. I like the light bar for the DRL and aesthetic. I also like it for rural roads, my grand parents farm, off roading, blizzards, etc. I also would never use mine to be cruel to others and it is aimed low. No squatting on this truck 😃
Hi, looking at installing a light bar, just not sure on the wiring, had one on my old truck, but want to be careful with all the electronics etc. on my new 2022 AT4, 1500. Do you have the video for your wiring? could send me an email if that works also. Tnx Rob
Hi, it will really depend on the lightbar. If you don’t have a DRL feature, it will be quite simple. Also do you know if the lightbar you’ve chosen has relays included?
I bought some ‘bigger than needed’ ones and cut them down to size. I can’t recall off hand but they were ‘L’ brackets with 1.5” width. 2” long on one side and 3” on the other side of the bend
