I grew up going to Rottnest every weekend in summer. Several times during rough whether our 40ft cabin cruiser would follow behind the ferry to try and make it a littke smoother as the ferry’s would cut through the waves. Several times we would have to head out to stragglers rocks and then turn and come into Fremantle to try and make it a smoother trip. And other times we would be stuck at Rottnest and couldn’t get back because ferries were cancelled. If the ferries are cancelled then you’re not stupid to do the trip in a smaller boat, Was an amazing childhood in the 80s lol
My year 7 school camp to Rottnest in 1999 had to go down in history as the worst Rottnest trip ever we were in a huge storm which toke about 4 hours to get back. This storm does not compare
we went over on a 14m yacht from hillarys to rottnest it was very rough the boat was roling and piching so much you coldn't stand up but one guy was up the front looking for whales we were all hopeing he wasn't going to fall over board on the way back the whole boat was leaning over so much the people on the leaning down side were almost in the water if you want a sea adventure that is definatly the way to go the yacht was calld the alphee goes from near the hilllarys ferry terminal
