LOVE Cape May! We live within two hours of this town, and spent our first ten wedding anniversaries (in December!) in Cape May, trying a different B&B every time. NEVER a complain! i even took my daughter there for a Mom & Daughter weekend when she turned 6 (in July) and we found some story hour type activities for kids. Really enjoyed every trip we've ever taken to Cape May, NJ.
You are now officially SHOOBIES! Historically, Philadelphians would travel to the shore for the day. They'd bring their lunch in a shoebox. Now all tourists are Shoobies. Welcome to the club of many. 🙂
You definitely need to go back. Cape May has so many fantastic spots both on and off the island. The Coast Guard Training Base is there and the Schooner at The Lobster House. Enjoy!
You should've walked the Historic Wildwood boardwalk. It's a site to behold, especially in season! It starts in North Wildwood and ends at the beginning of Wildwood Crest... over 2.5 miles each way! 🤗
That was a nice glimpse of Cape May. I’m about 25 miles north of Cape May. We go down at Christmas time. There are home tours, old fashioned carolers, every store is open on Washington Ave. It’s really beautiful. Enjoy Philly.
Another great video! My wife and I love watching yall. Aaron looks like our oldest son Joseph whose middle name is Aaron and coincidentally they both have very similar personalities (plain spoken, down to earth, thoughtful, logical, and caring). So obviously we love watching Aaron. As much as we like Aaron, we both love Chris. My wife thinks you are beautiful (I do too) and just have the best personality. Chris just comes off as someone you want to know and be around. P.s. we have shared our toothbrush several times when one of us forgot to pack one. 😊
What a beautiful area. Cape May is on our bucket list for next year. Copper gutters were a sign of wealth. If you ever visit Biltmore estate you will find copper gutters and downspouts, but they have a patina.
We just spent 3 weeks in Maine and loved lobster rolls but we never found one for less than $20. We learned (after 2 and a half weeks) that the local grocery store sold live lobster for $7.99 a pound and they would cook it for you for that price. Our first purchase was 3 lobsters which provided enough meat for 2 lobster meals and 4 lobster rolls. We then went back and bought 6 more that we broke down are now in our freezer. Love lobster.
I saw the date. We’re you guys at Oregon Inlet at the end of April? We were there camping and saw a rig and truck that looked like yours. When we had dogs, we kept spare leashes in our truck.
Great info folks. Much appreciated. ❤ very resourceful. I feel the discombobulation…I’m glad you show how things can go awry but you keep your cool and you PREVAILED!! 🎉
😂 We drove 20 minutes to a hiking trail with our dog, then realized we left the leash at home . Zeus is a large dog, so we went home for the leash, then back to the trail.
We go down to Cape May twice a year from Northern N.J. We just booked 4 nights for first week in Oct right where you filmed most of this video. We just love it here and it's a great get away from the congested north. The summer crowds are gone but most of the restaurants and shops are sill open when we go there. Prices, as everywhere else have gone sky high so it's not cheap anymore. FYI there's a great pet store in the little mall that is offset from the main Jackson St. walking mall, right where the horse drawn carriage stop is. Its in the back so you have to look hard but they've got amazing things for pets (mostly dogs). We go to the zoo, along Delaware Bay to surf fish, down to Diamond Beach, and a myriad of other things to do to pass the time. There's even a great military showcase at the Cape May Airport with lots of equipment from WWII and Vietnam. Well worth the visit.
Our dog is so nuts she tends to take our excursions and change them in to headaches. We “tag team” a lot of places with her - it semi-works. Coastal towns are so fun!
I love the rain as long as it’s not a downpour and cool but not too cold. I like cooking outside so too much rain and wind isn’t good, but we can’t control mother nature. 👍 Love your videos guys.
I hope you stopped at Sunset Beach to see the Concrete Ship ruins just off shore. Bonus if you stay until sunset and watch the ceremony of the lowering of the US flag.
Yes trip to see ww1 ship would be good and don't forget the capemay diamonds. As a child I had to look up at the big ship. Now not much to see of the ship at low tide. Yours truly Evans w Robinson ret sgt
That ship is now on it's last legs thanks to many storms in recent years. Barely anything higher than 10' sticking out of the water now and only about 20' long. It will probably be gone by 2030 but a great relic from WWII's ingenuity.
My mom grew up in Philadelphia and they always went to Wildwood for the summer my aunt and all my seven cousins live down there they used to make fun of me my accent from California love also I didn’t realize your videos were so far back. I wonder where you’re traveling now look forward to seeing your future videos, sending you positive energy. Looking at your website maybe help me get my weight under control and improve my shape. Thank you for all your tips and information. Hope to see you on the road someday sending you positive energy from Malibu, California surf zeros.🙏🏼❤️🤙🏼
Thanks, Mark! I read that a lot of people Philadelphia area had summer vacations in that area! We usually aren't this far behind, but our fast-paced travel up the East Coast took us to a lot of places and we're working to get the videos out. 😊 Thanks for the positive vibes!
At first I felt foolish for watching videos from places I'd actually been in person -- I thought it was old age nostalgia. Well it might be some of that but this video was all the more fun because a lot of it was familiar. I remember that pedestrian mall perfectly, and the clock on a green pedestal caught my eye in person before I saw it in the video. I agree with the other person who wrote that NJ doesn't have a lobster fishery locally, so it tastes better further north. While I won't try to phonetically spell out the Maine accent, it's also well known that "you can't get a decent clam chowder south of New Haven." Or Boston, or several other places in New England depending on the prejudices of whoever is saying it. But Cape May has lots of good restaurants as well as the historic inns, often magnificently restored, where you can stay, although they are rather pricey so I preferred just a few days at a time. Of course that's not applicable for RVers.
Great video! Was just in Cape May today ! Love it so much had to buy a vacation home there. Spend a lot of time in off season with our dogs. Higbee Beach and Sunset Beach are dog friendly.
Carry a extra set of leashes in your truck and one set in the camper then you don’t have to worry about forgetting them and the kids get a great walk. Just an idea😊
We used to stay in Wildwood or Cape May all summer when I was a child. It was a very different place back then. We call a wooden board walk that is along a shore or beach a “boardwalk.” I wonder is that what you call a “promenade? “
Wow nice memories, I used to go to Cape May, Wildwood, and Ocean City during the summer time specially Cape May, is such a beautiful town, enjoy and stay safe. By the way the doggiescare beautiful....
Wildwood is like the only free beach that’s the one that always floods and gets the storms. They have the longest beaches I mean just to get to the ocean it’s a trek.
Anytime you have a Basenji or two, you are automatically going to get attention.. What kind of dogs are they? leads to a loooonnnng conversation! Love your channel.
It’s interesting…. As we travel the country…. Which parts and areas allow dogs and which don’t. I mean I understand why, as some people don’t pick up after their pets. But it’s such a bummer when we see no dogs signs!
Just noting that the first thing you did on your way to Cape May was to actually take "Exit 0", which puts you on Rt. 9 towards North Cape May, the ferry, and other points north and west, but not Cape May. Clearly you figured that out because you made it into town. "Exit 0" has become an affectionate and unofficial term for Cape May, though it isn't really exit 0.
I'm sure by now you have arrived in New England and have found it to be very warm. This year's weather and temperature s are breaking records. Save travels.
I 🤣when I first saw Chris bundled up. Lobster rolls looked fabulous. My husband (30 yrs) wants to share all food! Lobster rolls, fish sandwiches. Main dishes, sides; all of it ❤ Going to do the next group challenge. Who doesn’t want to eat like y’all and be healthy❣️
Like that you bring your dogs. We found the same thing with people interaction. Looking forward to lobster rolls. I have leases in the truck as well as on the RV. Because if i didn't I would forget. This also includes the dogie bags. We use dog strollers with them as well. Allows us to go into some places normally restricted for dogs. Our first rescue boston went with us to Jeronimo park in South Dakota because we had her in a stroller. She loved it. She was the princes as she strolled around.
How far east coast are you going? NS Canada? If so check out BurntCoat Provincial Park. A bit of drive to get to it (you can’t camp here) but minimal crowds and you must go at low tide and sunset. Dogs are allowed and the experience you practically have to yourselves and your dogs. We explored all over and our pup enjoyed it too. One of our favs in NS (it’s a hidden gem). And no problem finding a parking spot for your truck
Big fan of the warm lobster with just butter. Overall I prefer Dungeness crab as I’m a Pacific NW girl but when in the upper east coast we partake in the lobster roll off too. 😎 With you on needing the thick chowder. Have fun!
I forsee a couple of Amazon leashes to stow under the truck seat in the very near future.... Kinda like a spare key for the truck stuck somewhere you can access it when you lock your keys inside
Cousins Lobster, I think out of Maine, also has a food truck out of Cincinnati, Ohio, that serves Ohio Cities, it has lobster rolls for $21.45 (claw lobster is most of the filling) the chowder is also very good at $10.00 a cup!
I just discovered you channel. Enjoyed your exploring familiar areas. Like the Bay Bridge Tunnel Lobster Roll prices are only doing to go up. Wait till you get to Maine - they are great but pricey. Best place I found for Lobster rolls is from the General Store going out to Ocean Beach beyond Boothbay Harbor. If you get there enjoy. Interesting as many times as I have gone to Cape May, I have never thought about getting a Lobster Roll.
I’ve gone to the Jersey shore my whole life. I live outside of Philadelphia. Been to Cape May several times. In fact, I’m attending a wedding there in September. I will say I never heard the word Promenade pronounced that way. We’ve always pronounced as Proma-nod and not Proma-nade. Now, I’m questioning my whole life at 60 years of age. I need to investigate this further. That said, your dogs are very cute. Keep up the good work BTW! Full confession. I never slept in a camper and/or mobile home.
Hello! Here is an interesting quick video on the different pronunciation of the word promenade between French, British English, and American English. 😊 Thanks for watching, appreciate it! 👍
Delaware also does not allow dogs "on season". I have mixed feelings about it, as I'd love to take my dog with me - but also realize that many people are not responsible enough to keep their dogs in line or clean up after them.
As you know, you only scratched the surface of this area. I am sorry you did not take the trolly rides. There are 2 or 3 different ones and all 3 are a must to learn about the area and the interesting people that made it. Don & Honey
You missed so many other sites in and around Cape May. After hanging out in and around the Cape May area for the last 45+ years I can tell you in a day you only see 5% of the interesting sites and landmarks in and around the town. Next visit hit the marina district, the Lobster House, the point, see the concrete ship before it is gone, stop by and walk sunset beach, t(e Coast Guard station is there and you can sign up for a tour of that, run over to the Cape May Lewis Ferry, many historic buildings in town. I could go on and on since my one sister has lived down there for over @38 years over in West Cape May and my other sister has owned a condo at the north end of the city for about 255 years. So many cool things that would take a few weeks to see and experience. Maybe next trip……. if you get up to Philly make sure to stop at Valley Forge and swing by the King of Prussia shopping complex. Campgrounds are not to easy to find around the city but French Creek State park does have sights.
Very good tour thank you. Things change when i was younger many old people on rocking chairs. No more Alsolarge ww2 hospital i recall the Christian admirial carl McIntyre group no longer there. Henry ford had a race lost he and ford to Detroit. Yours truly Evans w Robinson ret sgt
Hey love you guys . I have the independent suspension like yours but I am having hard time finding a place to do the Alignment. Called Moryde but no help. Called truck stops but no luck . Who did you get to do yalls . Thanks Adam
