I always loved watching your tv series and still do, but these newer videos are on a different level. The sights, sounds and locations are incredible. Thank you!!
We really liked this video as it shows passages aren't always awesome (as in easy). It also sounds like you had a great crew for this rather roley passage. Great idea sharing the registration segment! Tomorrow, finally, our sailboat goes into the water 🤗
Since watching your videos my wife and I are already looking to purchase a boat and plan to sail the bahamas and scuba dive....as soon as the kids fly the nest....thank you very much
Just watched and subscribed. I also appreciated the extra bit at the end regarding registration. I am currently on a Japanese Registered Boat in Tokyo preparing for a solo crossing to Vancouver in 2022 and may have to change my registration due to issues taking a JP registered boat off shore. So I was considering changing to a Canadian Registration but you have introduced a new option. Thank again
Thanks for the idea Derrick! We will be shooting more with the extra microphones that can record in the strong windy conditions. Sound is a tricky part of sailing videos.
Yes, Jersey and other tax havens help wealthy people to avoid taxes, that they could safely afford at the expense of the population in their home countries
Wait...you guys have a toaster on board??? Ok, now you're just Yves Sail Laurenting on DS III. Fair winds and hope you can get back to her soon. Cheers.
Spectacular night shots, special camera for capturing those? Also, what happens after Brexit to special no vat privileges if registered to a UK flag...humm Marc from Montreal.
I had the same question. Amazing camera shots at night! I didn't see the camera listed under the equipment on the video description so you might want to link it there with an Amazon affiliate link so you could earn a commission. Do you know the f-stop of the lens? Like a 1.5?
I would like to have seen more details of how you came into the panama marina, in the dark and with all that traffic. Wasn’t that nerve racking? Why not wait outside for daylight?
Thanks for your comment, Peter. We did our best to film this which was challenging in the dark while minding the ship at the same time and showed how we used AIS to track ship movement which we have a lot of experience with. Due to the weather forecast we felt it was safer to get in rather that night rather than keep the crew out for another night amidst a lot of moving traffic. We got the okay from port control and the channels are well marked and lit into the canal and Shelter Bay Marina. Hope this answers your question.
Interesting, Why Jersey instead of BVI or any of the other Red Ensign states? I've been planning on either BVI or Marshall Islands once I've got my boat.
Our focus has always been primarily on travel by boat. What would you like to see more of, R Y? Sail trimming techniques? Navigation? We appreciate your feedback.
As always, weather forecasts, especially for more than a couple of hours, are not reliable. But you managed it well. And with every glass wave heights are increasing. 😂
interesting hearing your observations about the Wx crossing. Just a merchant marine guy looking to get that sailboat gig started :) fyi, if you are unsure about a vessel's intentions- AIS/ECDIS has your answers before you have to pick up VHF
excellent cinematography and love the night shots, few sailing channels seem to capture the night as well as you do. you just got a subscriber and a viewer for sure! love the Canadian accents too.
OK I am sorry, I love your videos but I call bullshit. You have a sprain ankle so you can’t do your night watch? LOL that would not fly on any boat but your beautiful boat. How did you handle your day watches? :-)
Non-sailor here. How far do you have to stay from other countries when you pass them. When you passed Cuba, for example, you seemed fairly close. Just curious.
