What I recommend to ya'll out there is that you lay out the line parallel to the front edge of the stairs, on the wall, with a string. You use a push pin to hold it. You lay out a string path, from there, you located studs, put up the railing brackets, then use 2x2s to 'test-run' and figure out your compound miter cuts. It might take you a few tries - but it's scrap material, so no problem. You work out the problem in place, till you get the scraps to do what you want, then you go do it with your finish material.

I also got to this video after searching for a way to solve exactly this problem. I have a shaped handrail that needs to make an inside corner, and I've recently realized that this makes the design not line up properly for a cut. What is the best solution for this?

I'm doing a handrail with an outside 22 and a 1/2 degreecorder. And after taking all the angles and everything else. I can't get it the match up. Is it like Crown when you mighter and bevel? It changes the angles.

I'm going around an inside corner, with a square landing, and shaped, not round, handrail. Construction methods would be super helpful. I get the problem already.
