In this video tutorial, I show step-by-step how to knit a rounded sock toe! This top-down sock toe method can be applied to any stitch count, and will work for magic loop or double-pointed needles!
Rather than dividing the sock into two halves and decreasing on either end, this method splits the sock up into 6 sections and decreases evenly throughout them all. As an added bonus - there is NO KITCHENER STITCH required when you knit a rounded sock toe!

i've tried several round toe recipes, and they’ve looked and worked fine, but i’ve kept looking for one that's easier to remember. i'm going to try this one on the socks that i'm knitting now. you gave very clear and easy to see instructions, so i'm off to look at other videos that you've posted. thanks so much!

you know it saves a lot of explaining if instead of SSK you just do a K2tbl. Its the same thing with only one step. :)

@patjohnson5586

Do you have any videos of starting a pair of socks from the beginning using magic loop and afterthough heel. I am looking for a video that starts at the cast on and then step my step

I want also tell you that my mother in law use to do every 5 rows and every each stich a decrease. I never tried It. It looks nice too it was a round finishing toe. I hope you understood what I said because my english is not very good

Just wondering how I could knit this in reverse, ie, knitting toe up socks. I like knitting toe up so I can try them on as I knit .Any suggestions?

I’m knitting DK socks (48 stitches - 24 stitches front & back). I was wondering if the pattern for DK be the same as for fingering. Thank you.

Can this decrease be completed on 9 inch circular needles?

Great video! I’m super curious though, why aren’t all the decreases the same direction?
@KnittingHouseSquare
@KnittingHouseSquare 4 месяца назад
Thanks! You definitely could switch it so that all of the decreases go the same way. I prefer the different decreases so that all of the decreases go towards the center of the foot. I find it more similar to the standard toe decreases where you work at SSK on the right side, and a K2T on the left side of the top and bottom.

That's a fantastic tutorial, but I'd never put a knot in a sock. My feet are much too sensitive. An alternative would be to use a felting needle after weaving in the end to secure the end in place.

They are my favorite sock needles by Lykke! I don’t remember the exact cord length but they are US 0 probably 32” or 40”

The needles are off the screen or at the very top half the time and difficult to see. It would be helpful to be back a bit or more centred in the video.

The self striping yarn is from Must Stash Yarns - unfortunately I don’t remember the color way name - and then the purple is Knit Picks Stroll Tonal

If you’re doing a 64 stitch toe then you go up to get the 66 stitches?
@KnittingHouseSquare
@KnittingHouseSquare 4 месяца назад
Hi! It depends on how many stitches you start with. Depending on if you start with 64 or 66 stitches your setup row with the decreases will be different. A full written description can be found in the middle of page 1 in the PDF pattern download.

Can you ues it for toe up
@KnittingHouseSquare
@KnittingHouseSquare 2 года назад
Hmm that is a great question - I haven’t tried it so I can’t say for sure - but I feel like if you worked it in reverse (and cast on 6 stitches to start) it should work - you may just have to find a way to hide the cast on edge
