Hi! In some roundabouts, pedestrian crossings and bicycle passages are connected with the footpaths and bicycle paths along the road at the front right side, instead of the rear right. This means cyclists cannot be in the car's blind spot. Is it necessary to check the blind spot in this scenario while entering and exiting the roundabouts?

Is it considered acceptable to use the right turn signal when approaching a roundabout and keep it on until I exit, whether I intend to go straight (2nd exit) or turn right?

you can do that when turning to the right. But when going straight (on the second exit), you need to turn your right indicator on just after passing the first exit. Otherwise it will be confusing where you are planning to go.

Can you say who has done wrong I was on the outer lane of the roundabout, intending to take the third exit. ( i know i should take inner lane for 3rd exit but somehow i missed)The other driver came from the inner circle, attempting to take the second exit, and he hit my side slightly. It is for insurance purpose?

well, I can't say who is right and who is wrong in this situation...Before blaming one of you, the police checks the position where the accident occurs and makes interview of witnesses as well...So I better leave that for the police :) Having said that, even though you wrongly use the outer lane to take the third exit, the car on the inner lane can't just drive on you. The car on the inner lane has the obligation to check his mirrors and blind spot properly before making a lane change (to the outer lane). If he can't make a lane change safely, he should go around the full roundabout and come back again. Drivers have obligations (Not Rights) when they are out on the road, in this case he has the obligation to change to the outer lane safely before exiting the roundabout, but he doesn't have the Right to hit you even though you happen to be on the outer lane wrongly. I would say that you have strong point for arguing, but as I said at the beginning, the police collects multiple evidences before blaming one of you. Would love to hear back from you whom the police have blamed finally.

The last case ,fourth exit ,I already changed to the right lane when leaving the roundabout ,why going back to left lane again ?
@ClearRoadDriving

It is actually not switching to the left lane…The left and the right lane merge and become one lane immediately after the roundabout…so I drove into the single lane, not switch to the left lane.

Hi! When you adjust you speed to let the cyklist or pedestrian at the crossing do you need to shift you gear to first gear or you proceed with the second gear like when you are driving manual car? Thank you
@ClearRoadDriving
@ClearRoadDriving 10 месяцев назад
It really depends on your speed. In this case, when adjusting my speed to let go the cyclist, my speed was good enough for a second gear and I don’t need to reduce my speed further - since I am waiting a cyclist and he can cross the pedestrian crossing faster. So I can keep driving on second gear. But if I were waiting a pedestrian, I definitely need to reduce my speed more or even stop (otherwise, I can hit him) - In this case the car will stall if I keep second gear on a reduced speed, so I will have to shift to first gear. Take it like this, the situation on the road determines my speed and the speed I am driving with determines what gear to use…and as a final note, I drive manual car for my daily commuting, but in these videos I was driving automatic car.
