Most people can play this tune note perfect with or without a tab. But what separates this players to others in this genre is the phrasing, the feeling and timing, and the way he harmonises, I can be assured that he fully understands the structure, chords, and the arrangement of this song ( and other songs that he played). Top Class!
Thanks David. I was fortunate enough to learn music theory when studied classical guitar for 2 years in my early days, it allows me to hear music parts separately including the harmonies.
Such a pleasure to watch and listen to Robby. And that all from Dutch origin, what else can I say than "Dank je wel". Greetz from Netherlands, all best, Michael
I am not so into music theory, structure or chords but just find that most of his performances were of high quality standard and the likes from the viewers at large. You are just great my friend......
Hello Robby, this is a very beautiful song and a brilliant guitar performance. Fully enjoyed the nice melody and playing! Big Like! All the best, Ludwig🎶🎵
Hi Robby, This is a wonderful interpretation of an old classic, with lovely playing and vintage sound, and the three part harmonies were a nice touch! Best wishes, James
Oh wow... you just 'reincarnated' one of my most favorite Tol&Tol instrumentals. They first were part of the Dutch band BZN and made 5 solo albums. Cees Tol sadly died in 2018 but they left an incredible heritage of music. This version is so in honour of the original, you did a tremendous job on this one. Shivers over all my body, thanks!
The best version I have heard, the 3 part harmony sounds great. A perfect guitar tone and excellent phrasing. Just wonderful to listen to. All the best. SteveB
Great Video Robbie, you sound just like 'Hank!' no problem with your presentation mate, good to see you working again! Best wishes from Vic 'Hank's old neighbour in the UK.
Hi Robby, this has to be one of the best versions I have seen, love the harmonies & played beautifully, well done mate👍👏🎸 all the best & have a great week, we have great sunny days here Ric
G'day Robby! Mate what can one say, you do a tremendous job on the shadows sound and the way you play is like listening to hank himself simply awesome . all the best Paul
Yes Robby it was a tribute to Hank. The second title of the number is called "A tribute to Hank B.Marvin". Youv, e got the original BT which Tol and Tol had used . Very well done my Friend Bye Freddy 😃😃😃
Another awesome track as ever. Intro sounded a bit like silver dream racer. That would be a good instrumental cover for the future. Just one question why are you not famous because you should be. Phil
You are wrong Phil....Robby is quite famous on You Tube as so many good Shadows fans attest to this.....Just listen to all the good Shadows guitarists and see if he doesnt sound most like the great Hank Marvin.....cheers
Great interpretation as always, Robbie. What are your thoughts about the use of the Vox Echo as opposed to the TVS3? The TVS3 would appear to be easier to set up. Do you have a preference ? Cheers, Ian
Yes I can understand that, Robbie. I have to say that the tone that you achieve is always so authentic vintage - there's a touch of magic there that's not straight forward to replicate.
thanks for the answer. I think I understood correctly that the string wrapping is purple. Are these strings flat or round wound? kind regards @@suaragitar
@@suaragitar - I have a Binson PE603 which gives a pretty good Shadows echo - unfortunately the wiring has corroded and I'm in the process of re-wiring, it so it will be out of action for quite a while! The Vox echo sounds amazing.
@@bernhardnizynski4403 good luck with the rewiring for your Binson. My Long Tom was refurbished by Paul Rossiter of TVS here in Australia, but unfortunately he passed away last year, it will be tough to find somebody when the echo needs service, considering it’s a 60 year old machine!
@@suaragitar - that is very sad about Paul Rossiter! - do you live in Perth? I live in Melbourne, but grew up in Canberra. Fortunately, I have basic electronics qualifications from many years ago, and am able to rewire my machine - unfortunately at my age I find it very tedious, but I must finish. In Australia the 1960s, just about every guitar player used an Echolette (which I still have) - we did not know that Hank used a Meazzi - they were not available in Australia. Had I known at the time that the Vox was a copy of the Meazzi, I may have tried to acquire one. BTW, your playing is fantastic and I have followed your channel for many years. Keep up the great work!
@@bernhardnizynski4403 I live in Sydney, I had to send the echo to Paul for a service then. Oh yes absolutely, Australian bands used Klemt Echolette in those days notably the Atlantics and others like The Joy Boys, The Statesmen . Different from a Vox or a Meazzi but has a nice sound. Many thanks for stopping by. Best, Robby
