Let's have a brief entry into London shall we?, with what is one of the few buses in central London that sees diesels still run. It's the 452.
BJ11DVG was new in 2011 to First London as VN36125, and comprised a bulk order of 65 Volvo B9TLs new to Lea Interchange (LI) garage for First's win of trunk route 25 from Stagecoach, and replacing the much maligned Mercedes Citaro artics. With the great First pull-out the bus transferred over to Tower Transit. 2020 saw the bus pass west to Westbourne Park (X) as a stop-gap on the C3 whilst Optare electrics were being delivered. With the purchase of Westbourne Park by RATP, saw 7 B9TLs, now the VDW-class, remain, which now run solely on the 452.
Today's journey sees on route 452 which runs from Ladbroke Grove, Sainsbury's to Vauxhall Bus Station via Notting Hill Gate, Royal Albert Hall, Knightsbridge, Sloane Square, Chelsea Bridge, Battersea Park, Wandsworth Road & Nine Elms. The route was introduced in 2006 and originally ran from Kensal Rise Station to Wandsworth Road, was cut to Ladbroke Grove due to stand congestion, and also extended to Vauxhall.
BJ11DVG is powered by a Euro 5 Volvo D9B engine coupled to Voith DIWA 4-speed automatic gearbox (I think anyway). So hope you will all like.
Start: Royal Hospital Chelsea
Finish: Wandsworth Road Station
