Fantastic set of travel vlogs Simon, showing us the real America most of us Brits never get to see. Really glad you got to do this trip after the challenges of last year. Love the sections of the old road surfaces and unused bridges, I'm struggling to envisage how they ever coped with two way passing traffic and trucks back in the day. great stuff Simon. this part brings back memories for me when many years ago i had to drive from Tulsa to Oklahoma City. I decided to go using old route 66. i got just a little taste of your grand adventure.
I’ve just binged the first 10 vlogs in one night and I’m absolutely loving them. And I’m inspired to start thinking about planning my own Route 66 road trip, which I’ve wanted to do for such a long time 😊

Chicken fried steak - never tried it but my husband did when he was on a work trip to USA. I presume the white covering was what they call gravy. When you asked those two ladies what they recommended they looked at first so static like wax dummies 😂 You’ve certainly met some lovely and very varied people so far. When you showed us your room I almost expected to hear you say that you were going to buy one of those Route 66 bed covers 😂 Mentioned this vlog to my daughter and son in law yesterday (plus Loaded London too) and they watched 5 of the Route 66 vlogs last night and are now converts. Cheers for another entertaining vlog 👍🏻
I'm so glad you are leaving your mark along the way. Signing the books and leaving stickers. When your vlogs go viral people will be looking for your mark along the routes. You keep mentioning how nice the people have been. That is a two way street. You are kind to spend time with these people and be interested in the history. So many would just pass by these places and even if they stop in show no interest in the owners and workers. Well done.

You met some real down home folks on this leg of the trip. Some may say quirky, but everyone seemed very hospitable. I know you don’t usually show yourself on your vlogs, but I hope you’re taking some selfies showing you at these places or with these people if they’re willing. Evil clown looked like he’d be willing to pose for a picture with you. Hee hee hee ha ha ha ha!!! Every stop looked like an episode of American Pickers, if you’re familiar with that show. There’s probably a British version where we took the idea from. Gearhead has a different meaning in GB than someone with an interest in working with cars and such?

What a fantastic trip so far. The people you meet along your journey always seem so nice and friendly. You always seem to be the only car on Route 66 - is it always that quiet or do you come across other people making the same trip.
I need to know what the South London slang meaning for gearhead is. Please do tell. Chicken fried steak is so good. On your next visit to Vegas, Ellis Island casino their cafe serves up a pretty good plate of chicken fried steak.
