Moved from Anaheim when I was 4 years old to Holbrook, AZ. That was 61 years ago. It was total culture shock from Disneyland to having 1 Dairy Queen. Sad to see how far downhill it has all gone. I lived there until 13 years ago when I moved to Tucson. I would walk from school to eat lunch at the Plainsman. It used to be quite a sight though, all lit up with Neon at night. Looked like Cars Land. My dad and grandfather had Trading Posts, Liquor Stores and a Bar. The old Navajo-Hopi Trails Trading Post, my granddad built with Petrified Wood siding as well as the old Thunderbird Tavern. Back then petrified wood wasn't going for much, but that totally changed. Thanks for the memories.

Hi Justin. Thanks so much for revisiting these places. I am doing Route 66 in early March from the UK and I cannot wait to see all these fascinating things! I love how much enthusiasm you have for this and seeing your videos has really inspired me to check so many of these places out myself when I'm there.

14:50 - I had to stop the video and look up Copperlites. Turns out that I had forgotten all about fossilized dung! My rock collecting days are long behind me. Thanks, Justin!

Before we went to Disneyland about 4 years ago I started watching a few RU-vidrs who specialize in Disneyland, you were one of them and you remain the only one that I am still watching to this day. Bonus, you were the one RU-vidr that I actually saw at Disneyland, I came up to you and said "hi". It was awkward but cool too. It was kind of the icing on my Disney trip. All that just to say thank you for making fun and positive and interesting videos.

Thank you, Justin! My husband and I flew to California from PA and drove back east during the entire month of April last year. We saw the things you showed today, and it brought back so many great memories! We stood on the corner in Winslow AZ, went inside the trading post at Jackrabbit, slept in one of the teepees in Holbrook, and enjoyed seeing the countryside, both inside the Petrified Forest National Park and along the roadside. All of it is so different from anything in our area--it may have been so cliché, but also so much fun! We loved seeing you go over that area--and now we're thinking of going back and hitting our favorites again--California, Arizona, and New Mexico.

One place I highly recommend in Winslow, AZ is the La Pasada Hotel. It is an old Harvey Hotel that was restored. The Harvey Hotel closed in the 1950's and the building became a division headquarters for the Santa Fe Railroad and was slated to be demolished when the railroad had no further use for it. It has been nicely restored as a hotel and restaurant. The Turquoise Room in the hotel is a classy restaurant.
