I was sold on Obama but that was during the time when I first started listening to politics but then when I got to the point of listening and “started to pay attention to details” I felt a different way about the democrats and shifted to voting republican. i am still not clear on what the raised fist in the air was supposed to mean. typically when someone is hurt but wants to signal they are OK - such as in a sporting event - they give a thumbs up. the raised fist - Rove calls it an act of defiance. When the financial system started falling apart in the fall of 2008, a Republican Senator told me "The country is in a crisis and our candidate is an idiot when it comes to the economy. We are going to lose." If Sarah Palin had had any gravitas with regard to such issues, say the way Nixon or Romney could have done, the election might have turned out differently. But McCain was like a deer in the headlights. And Sarah Palin, coming from just about as far away from Wall Street as one can and still be in America, didn't help at all.
