This video is from June 1984 and came with the dealer launch pack for the range launch in the UK.

Rover press team: we need something our target market would often need to transport in our car to demonstrate its luggage carrying capacity. Rover employee: I’ve got a brass hearth surround we could use.....

This & Acclaim were leagues better than Escort/Orion. I think they limited their appeal by ony selling as a 4 door though.

I purchased one back twenty years ago for twenty quid. Needed a new battery but after that was sorted had no hassle for 12000 miles. Still it was only an S. Even today envious of the vanden plas headlight washers.

The base model has a remote boot release? My top of the range 2003 Nissan doesn't have that feature!

My 2003 BMW 530i E60 doesn't have a remote boot release either ! Oddly, my 1999 BMW E39 528i did.

It’s a remote boot release in the same way it has remote bonnet release!

True, but It was probably a lower spec model. Back in the day only higher spec cars came with rev counters like the top end Vanden Plas at 4:52.

@@AsherPiesman Yes, I know many low & mid-range spec cars back then didn't have rev counters, even the Austin Ambassador Vanden Plas didn't have a rev counter but calling those instrumentation "comprehensive" is just false.

Loved the way the guy in the crash helmet thrashing it around the track and testing areas. Only for the majority of them to be sold to 80 year olds never taking it over 35mph.

Rover did mean something until they started strapping the badge to the likes of the 200 a good car but cheaper lacked Rover parts switches materials not Rover, the Tinny metal nothing felt Rover. Exciting to drive, come on. If I had bought it on the basis of this information I may have had to speak to a lawyer they really are misleading, bred to be Rover? a re badged Honda
