Dates, locations, directions, activities and line information are indicated on the compilation The trains were hauled by the Rovos Rail's vintage class 5E1 locomotives.
Here from Lions River (to Durban) the next station is Tweedie. The station was named after the farm Tweedie Hall overlooking Midmar dam, dam was also built on the farm❤❤❤
@@ZAR797 your welcome my friend, myself love our railways and just can't get enough spending my free time out there. Thank you for the support, I really appreciate it 🙏
Just above the Cedara tunnell, on the old line there used to be a halt snd platform called ARADEC . Cedara spelt back wards. This old line over Hilton had 1 in 30 gradient. This gradient view is available where the old line passes underneath the mainline as you exit the horse shoe curve out side Boughton. There is a second horse shoe just below Boughton. ❤❤ Go check it out😅😅😊😊
During 1968 5 x loop lines were built on the upside for storage of coal trains waiting for Power stations, Sarnia and Congella and Ferralloyds Steel Mill at Cato Ridge❤❤
Thanks Jaco I must say the 5Es are quite strong to pull the rovos train on the natcorvmine with all the curves and gradients. Also thank you Christo for sharing a little bit of history
@@nigellennert8967 You're welcome my friend, they are the best passenger train locomotives ever built. They are amazing machines, and can still do the job.
@@nigellennert8967 thank you for your feed back. The 5E1 runs DBN to JHB. The 5E has the same outside apearance😊the connection berween the body and bogies are different. 5E has a ball and socket and 5E1 has a flat turn table. 5E1 is a CADELAC , 5E is very bumpy( called a BALSTAMPER ) 5E we used in Germiston, what a punishment🤣🤣🤣😊
Agh fantastiese video Jaco met mooi locos. Are these original and un modified 5E1s? Was it only the 6E1s that was converted to 18Es they have such similar bodylines. Te veel tyd uit SA! 🙈
@@winco68 baie dankie my Maat. Hierdie is die oorspronklikke 5E1 lokomotiewe. Rohan Vos, CEO van Rovos Rail, het nege van hulle by Transnet gekoop en getestoreer. Hulle was die beste passesier trein lokomotiewe ooit gewees.
During our younger days we used the rear pantographs. Should there be obstruction on the overhead cantenary it allows you time to drop the pantos to prevent damage. Now the front ones are used to keep the panto grease off the coaches.( graphite grease) not an easy thing to clean😂😂
If you go north of Boughton station there is a horse shoe curve. The only place in RSA where you can see the back of your train while at 60km/ h❤❤ go check it out😅😅
@@ChristoBrand-d6e never my friend, I'm thankful for all the information you have given us. It's truly a honor to know someone who knows the history of our railways. Thank you for everything, it's highly appreciated 🙏
