When my Gen 3 pooped out almost immediately after purchasing RovyVon promptly replaced with the Gen 4. I was super impressed by the commitment to quality/service to rectify the matter. I bet they would help get you a replacement without a fuss. Then you can see if it was a fluke or significant design/quality problem.
That's really great customer service! The thing is I really can't say that I haven't abused the flashlight a bit and I've had it for quite a while as well. I don't know that they need to replace it. But I do know that when I replace it. I'll buy one with the other type of button! Thanks for the comment!
I really enjoy my A8 Gen 4, but have a different durability issue. This Rovyvon is constantly on my key ring, and within a year I noted the opening (though which the key ring goes) cracked. I tried using the magnetic end cap to reinforce it, but a magnet near your keys is inconvenient. My solution is to superglue a tiny steel plate at the end. I cut this steel from a car fuse. This seams to hold.
Good Information 👍 but the nondurable case made me switch to a Thrunite archer(1 AA batery) or an Olite Baton (1- 18650 battery). Both are excellent & durable! 👍👍👍
I’ve been carrying the Rovyvon A3 (?) now for at least 3 years on my key chain and it’s still going strong. Around the house, I carry the Olight mini 2 (it has the magnetic base that nests in the holder) and it is absolutely a game changer, for me. Light, small and has enough light for my needs.
Nice light. I’ve been looking to upgrade and have been looking at theses. Thanks for the heads up about the buttons and cracked housing. Another great video.
That's so nice, Jack, thank you! Yes it's an awesome flashlight, if you don't mind learning the user interface. My husband calls it, "One button, and 400 ways to push it!"
Thank you for the comment. I really can see what you mean. I don't like the Gen. 4 button anymore. But I didn't like the Gen. 3 button in the first place. It's just better than the Gen. 4.
Hi Anne !!! Great Video as usual.. Just ordered two !!! One for each stocking !!! Kathy says good gift for me to find the coals & nuts in my stocking !!! LoL Thank You -- Joe --
I had the same thing happen 😢, i wonder if some superglue or maybe clear nail polish would help waterproof the cracks. Definitely seems to be a fault on the gen 4s
Do you know how the different side LED configurations compare? For example the A8 Gen 4 UV/Red/White versus White/UV/White. Why would someone choose the two white model? Is it brighter because it uses both LEDs in high mode? Does that mean the battery lasts half as long? Also, how functional is the A8 while charging via USB C? Does it work while charging? Thanks!
I’m not completely sure but I think the white/uv/white is 30lm on low 70 on high but the white and red one the white is 3/5lm and 60lm so that is the difference. Not sure if you can use it when charging. Hope this helps you on your decision.
Rovyvon is simply too expensive for a device with a nonreplaceable battery, which will make the flashlight an interesting-looking paperweight in 5-10 years. I bought a flashlight similar in size and function to the Rovyvon for only $12. On a lighter note, i'm looking forward to some Christmasy vids from you soon (dare I hope?) Anyway, good vid. 👍
Well, my Rovyvon A3 has been my daily carry for 3 years and is still going strong. If I get 5, or more years out of it, I think I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of it.
@michaelnasser8697 fair enough. For me, $15 is the threshold for an item like this. Otherwise, it needs to have replaceable batteries, either rechargeable or regular, of which there are numerous offerings, such as from Olight and others. For $40 I can get a bigger, brighter, and better flashlight than a tiny Rovyvon.
