Fellow Dairy sheep farmer here.. It's been raining for six days straight in Greece, and I would just like to say that you can take your rain back, and give me my sun!!
My Dad would have been proud of you Richard. On most farm videos I watch if there is any hay left over after raking it stays there. I would often see my Dad go out with a pitchfork and gather up the left over bits of hay and put them into a windrow.
usual fantastic video.. it's so important to educate the general public about the benefits of small mixed farms for the environment and economy. cheaper food is not the future any more. it's about quality traceability and it's environmental impact/animal welfare standards. the UK should market UK food to the rest of the world as finest we can't compete with foreign factory farms so let's be different, let's be high end and desirable... we just need leadership that will galvanise the concept.
Drought in ireland too. Weird the wettest countries usually have been dry for the past while. Some farmers are feeding silage as there is no grass growing for cows
You try not to but its hard not to when some of the grass is burning. Heard theres water shortages in some coumties. We must try and save a few gallons of water from the winter for summer if this weather carries on in future
Farmer if a cow has tb then in 60 days she has to be gone to the meat plant and the herd can't buy or sell any other cattle until the herd pases to clear tb tests in a row
Tuberculosis. It's a big problem in cattle in certain parts of the country. We have to test every year but if you fail the test then you go on 60 day testing until you pass 2 clear tests.
The Tractor Lad 33 at 18.20 today the farmers are starting to get into trouble seeing a few in cork using water canons and a pump to get the crops watered but if we don't get rain soon they in right trouble
The rockiest part of our land is burnt, most of it is rocky tbh, probably the worst area in cork for land (thats a couple miles east of cork/kerry mountains)
