2024.08.05 - The night before, it rained quite a bit so the following day, started out sunny, we decided to harvest Mormon and Amianan while the weather is good. A little bit of Mormon was harvested however, too many greens, need 5 more days. Amianan about 11000 sq.m was harvested, actual yield is 8 tons, translated to 0.73 kg/sq.m. Backpedalling the number 0.73 by 0.4575 then the sampled yield would have been 1.6 kg/sq.m. An ideal sample yield is 2 kg/sq.m. so that is our target in Dry season. Two kg/sq.m translate to around 10 tons/hectare actual, if one is wondering why.
Tri-split in this area did work, just that the weather is challenging, far too many empty rice shells is seen on the ground is saddening. Anyway, I didn't get a sample however, based from past lessons learned, it seems like I no longer need to this? Probably moving forward, as my knowledge of estimate vs actual yield is largely understood, I could stop taking samples as they become unnecessary. Dry season, I will check the Harvest Index though, currently it seemed to be around 0.23 nominal. Here the biomass would have been (1.6/0.23) 7 kg/sq.m or (if using 2.0/0.23) 8.7 kg/sq.m are interesting numbers to be validated in the Dry season crop yields.
