Lyrics
You’ve got me girl
On the runaround runaround
Got me all around town
You’ve got me girl
On the runaround
And it’s getting me down
Lady
If you want to find a lover
Then you look no further
For I’m gonna be your only
Searching
At the start of the season
And my only reason
Is that I’ll get you
I’ll find some
Way of connection
Hiding my intention
Then I’ll move up close to you
I’ll use you
And I’ll confuse you
And then I’ll lose you
Still you won’t suspect me

This era. There is something undefinable. It's greasy. It's seedy. It's sophisticated. It's rough and slick at the same time. It's beautiful and weird. It's Roxy Music defined.

A brilliant description, and i know what you mean. It's exactly how i feel when i listen to Soft Cell. Yes, different music, a different time, but after listening to Soft Cell, i feel dirty. I can't explain. Listen to Sex Dwarf. Punchy, dirty, and seedy. Total brilliance.

@@tilerman Yes. Filthy. Seedy. The song that really gets me is a Marc Almons solo track that I originally knew from the Some Bizarre comp, If You Can't Please Yourself, You Can't Please Your Soul. I followed Roxy everywhere from 1973..The clothes that you wore were the stamp of being in a Roxy crew.. When I look at the old photos from back then I can't believe how we all posed like models..no smiling just posing!!😂 We thought we were better than any other bands fans! Omg so embarrassing!😂So many amazing memories..we all hung out in the Crazy Daizy club in Sheffield..I still see some of the crew and we all still wear little accents of clothing that stand out from everyone else..My youth started with Roxy and I'm still with them after all these years! I like a lot of Roxy, not this song. The melody is good but too much mellotron and flute. Not into electronica. I guess Art Prog or more experimental stuff is not my thing so much. My favs are Love is the Drug, Virginia Plain, Avalon, More than this, Dance Away, Out of the Blue, All I want is You. And don't savage me but Brian Eno is not my thing at least on this song. Wondering if Peter Gabriel is going to pop out of Genesis and help out with some prancing around.

I had the 45 of "Love is the Drug" from when it came out, but otherwise didn't know Roxy's music. Went to the record store and bought all of Roxy's albums looking for that song. The record store didn't have "Manifesto", or, of course, the album it came from "Country Life". Best thing I did was buy all those albums looking for that song. One of my all time favorite bands. I can only imagine nothing existed outside of the charts in their eyes.

They were so different from every other Rock Band especially in the U.S. My first exposure to them was through an excellent record shop in Seattle. The manager was a very cool guy, and he was getting in a bunch of records by English bands who were off the usual track of the usual Zeppelin and Rolling Stones, When The Roxy album Stranded came out in America, my fave shop did a window display including the album cover picture which was very racy , sexually suggestive.and I heard some of the tracks. I bought an import copy. I was a Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry enthusiast ever after.

Funny how we experience these things differently. To me the start shows me a scene of a beautiful dressed lady outside in a field, somehwere hot and very sunny. Gentle hills with just weat almost everywhere. It is noon, a windy day. And then the wind strengthens and it comes in from slightly different angles. Looking over the field with her clothes gracefully moving in he wind she sees how the wind seems to approach her, almost blowing through her. On that wind, ever so slightly, is this changing melody (of Eno and Mackay). And even though it is invisible, she know this is a man, she feels it, that is trying to approach her and he is trying different frequencies to get in sync with hers....He is not desperate, he is calm and selfassured....he is finding some way of connection....She wantsto know him, he provokes her curiousity, but for now she can only feel he is trying. But she is also aware of something sinister that makes her not completely at ease....
