Only real musicians who knew of him…saw him at Town Hall with Larry Coryell and Michal Urbaniak. He was headlining. I’d only heard of him but Bob D’Andre, a musician I was acquainted with, said this cat is something special. He was. The king of tone

Roy did it his way and I appreciate that, no fanfare, no band programs to bog him down. He did his own thing and did it better than most.

Better than most. Do you think. Every living blues rock player in the day wanted to sound and play like Roy. I get a kick out of Roy sometimes he will turn his back so as not to give up some of his fashion chops. Not that many could anyhow. Few if any.

It's funny and kinda heart warming to see that Roy, towards the end of his career, had become more lively and animated onstage. As if he was feeling more confident or something. And yes, he's not the greatest singer, but his voice wasn't bad at all and suits his music just fine

I will believe he rarely used effects but surely here I hear echo, so is this a moment where he uses some stuff or how then does he create echo on the tele without some pedal/amp effect? I know it is possible to create reverb effects with a tele without extra pedals (by accident I still have to figure out how I did) but still it sounds here as if he uses some device. But regardless of that this man is awesome...love his playing..

Tape delays were also common. Units would typically be by the amp, not on the floor.
