Doc’s ability to paint his sinker/cutter combo was unparalleled. Against lefties, he could dot a front hip sinker or a back door cutter, even run the cutter in under the hands. Against righties he had zero fear of front dooring his cutter and back dooring his sinker. Not to mention his wipeout change and curve. He was legendary.
@@choiyatlam2552 He was at a big disadvantage his whole career because he was against the yankees and red sox a huge portion of his games when they were 90+ win teams. If Halladay was in the central or west I am confident he gets 1-2 more Cy Youngs
It was unfortunate but he just threw so many innings his arm just got tired. I remember seeing a picture where Roy Photobombed a fan wearing his jersey at an amusement park. The fan had no idea. 😂
A slight difference in grip which changes the motion. A sinker will tend to drop more than move laterally, while a two-seamer mostly moves away from the release direction of the arm and drops a little bit. Of course this all depends on the pitcher's mechanics and their arm angle too--a sidearm release tends to produce more sideways motion and an over-the-top release produces more vertical motion.
I'm still pissed no baseball games give you the option of throwing a split change it's b******* that's one of those devastating pictures if you can use it right
