Grovers Soprano sounds better than Wayne Shorter’s ( in my estimation ), technically innovative and creative but at times harsh and brittle sound on the Soprano... SMOOTH JAZZ/FUSION INFLUENCES Jimmy Health in a magazine interview ( in the 1990’s ), called Grovers music a bastardization of Jazz. This tune really shows that Grover could play traditional jazz music if he so desired....
Man, Roy was a dark cat. Think about what destroyed his kidneys, then what disease killed him, and then the name of his last amazing album/band, RH Factor. Fucking dark ass humor there, from a complex, troubled, genius level individual. Always sad when one of great musicians pass, but, in my eyes, worse when they pass because they self destruct.
