The iverson of boxing, everybody knows hes great but he does not quite get his due. His natural athletic abilities and his precision and skill are unlike anything seen in boxing period.

Some people don't acknowledge him as the potential GOAT - and it's no surprise seeing as his style ignores half of the 'how to box' rulebook every other boxer follows. Some of these 'technical' people will criticize his technique, because they don't understand the whole dimension from which this guy is fighting from.

maybe he didn't want that kinda fame and was secure in his own mind of his own talent anway. not sure why fame is assumed to be such a great thing nowadays its destroyed many lives and lotsa people had to sell they soul to get that good old fame and then maybe we wouldn't be saying what a great human being roy is.
@lucasm3879
@lucasm3879 5 лет назад
He always had defensive flaws and they got exposed when his reflexes started to fade just a little. Tarver beat him fair and square, the weight thing is just an excuse all Roy's fans cling to. I like Roy, he was very exciting to watch in his prime, but he was never a complete fighter. He relied on his speed and athleticism for his defence. His defensive skills were actually very average.

Roy in my opinion is the best boxer to ever step into a ring. To watch a Roy Jones Jr fight was like watching a artist paint a masterpiece. His speed was on another level and some of the moves he pulled in the ring only Roy could do. His knockouts were unreal. The KO against Serwano will go down as one of the most brutal KO’s of any fighter of all time. If you haven’t seen that one Google it,RU-vid it or whatever you have to do to see it cause it’s unbelievable. The one against Hill were he broke his ribs was vicious as well but the Art Serwano one is crazy

The best p4p boxer ever. Went from middleweight to heavyweight and won a belt. Not only that but DESTROYED a heavyweight for the belt. Fought hall of fame and all time greats like James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, mike mccallum and vinny pazienza, made it look easy every time. The dude barely lost rounds in his prime, lightning fast, very powerful and supersmart with amazing footwork and combinations. He was the perfect fighter

My favourite fighter of all time. Best ive seen since growing up by a mile dominated every round against his greatest rivals Hopkins and Toney who were in their primes at that time. Freak of nature who never looked the same when he came down from heavyweight. Everyone forgets he still beat Tarver in the first fight and once he lost people suddenly had an excuse to bad mouth him. He was going on 35 by then!!!!! Would have loved to have seen how he would have fared against Hagler Leonard Duran Hearns and co.

He was the best fighter of all time untill fight with Antonio Tarver. Slimming down to fight Antonio Tarver destroyed his ability. He should have retired on the top of his game winning the WBA Heavyweight title from John Ruiz. Roy Jones Jr made Bernard Hopkins and James Toney look bad, both which are legends.

Roy is 5 yrs older than me. So I watched him his entire career. I’ve never seen a fighter outclass his competition to the extent in which RJ was capable of. One of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of gloves. Unfortunately like 99% of fighters he stayed a little too long. He suffered several severe KO’s at the end of his career.
