@Crixus2016 because he did a dirty tackle? Never even ruined haalands career. Haaland seemed to be a bit of a prick slabbering to keane when he done his cruciate against leeds.
@Crixus2016 You don't belong near a competitive sport lad. Roy Keane is the greatest captain this league has ever seen. There is no player in the premier League who gets the arm band over him. Not one. He didn't get that reputation by being a nasty piece of work. He got it by being a possessed machine who led by example as a professional and raised the game of every single man who played with him!!!
Roy Keane walking his dogs is some of the most therapeutic content you can get in this pandemic. On a real though gotta appreciate Gary and this channel, it's been such a pleasure to get a blunt and unfiltered side to the people he's interviewed.
Roy helps the local guide dog association in cork a lot, he helped fund the services to train and raise my brother's special needs companion dog, legend ❤️
Even the dog is in line with Keane, walking calmly along by his side. It's well trained and obedient. Says a lot about Keane's character and the importance he places on discipline. Not many players like him in modern football.
@@habu179 a lack of discipline means being unable to do what should be done as a result of mental weakness. Now listen, I'm no Man Utd fan, but Keane was as disciplined as they come when he stepped out onto the pitch. Crunching people, I know, albeit dirty tactics, was premeditated and intentional. Keane was fully in control of what he was doing out there.
@@habu179 what emotion? I'm not biased, not a Man Utd fan, just think Keane was all-in on match day, which is what a professional footballer should be. Yes, explain your version of "crunching" please.
@@ssj3gotenks589 feck the dog! he's overrated! the camera man was walking backward for who knows how many hours pre cut... how disciplined is that! dog me arse! do me a favour!
Have to love Keane, he holds the same standards for everyone, turn up on time, train well, and perform on match day, it’s as simple as that no excuses, love his mentality
I've watched a few of these 'The Overlap' programmes now and realised that Gary Neville is an absolutely brilliant interviewer. He easily makes the interviewee relax and open up to him - great to to see genuine conversations and not the scripted stuff we usually get.
It does help that Roy is retired. Whereas when you're still a player you have to kind of watch what you say in some areas possibly due to sponsorship deals, or getting on the wrong side of people at the club etc..
I completely second that!! I really enjoyed seeing a completely different and unexpected ‘human’ side to RK. I’m not a huge football fan but appreciate Gary as an interviewer as never before.
Yea I'm a Liverpool fan true and true so in the past I used to hate his guts, but your right he's a great interviewer and fantastic Pundit, and us Liverpool fans respect those who knows a bit about footy! So fair play Gary! 👏👏
Me too, really enjoyed it , i'm not a man utd fan but always respected Roy's approach to the game, he would be the one telling the jokes and doing the wind ups, captain onthe field and captain off it too
@takesone2knowone most pathetic comment I've seen on RU-vid in a week fair play. No truth in anything you said , every single point you made is factually a lie.
@takesone2knowone I'm surprised you didn't at least spend that time to look up the facts I can give them to you all now but the fact your sticking to it all being true means your either very stubborn and can't admit a mistake or you are just dumb.
This is one of the best football interviews I’ve ever seen. Honest, funny and no bullshit. Roy Keane is a born winner, we were fortunate to have him at United.
Yes, the rest of us were all jealous, in his pomp if you'd said to me you can pick one player for Spurs, it would have been him. They had some talent, he'd have given them the backbone they needed.
I'm a arsenal fan but I have so much respect for Keane the kind of guy you want next to you in a battle and neville to be fair very good at what he does now and very honest about his coaching days
Even as a Liverpool fan, this guy is an absolute gem, hated when we had to face him, truly fearsome but in a good way. Inspirational. And genuinely a nice old school guy, great pundit too, none of this nonsense a spade is a spade!
Real man. Speaks the truth and media make him out to be crazy. One of the realist people ever. He don't fake it says it how it is while others fake it and put an a act and don't say what they really think
Despised Utd back in the day but always had a respect for Keane. Kind of captain who would give every drop of blood and sweat for his club and country. Its unfortunate him and McCarthy just had a personality clash and his international career ended the way it did.
When he talks about the way people speak down to you. That really hit home, literally the only person I’ll ever allow to speak a certain way to me is my Dad. Same as Roy said!
I’m convinced someone injected Roy with a truth serum long ago, and since then he can only show his true colours. The man is incredibly sincere, wears his heart on his sleeve. He gets things wrong, but he’s incredibly genuine while doing it.
No its just that everyonev who is in the media or for goodness sake players these days are all fake because they dont know any better its all around them, media, their coaches, physio staff all this other ''professional'' bullshit that is pushed down everyones throat, roy keane is a legend and brings faith that real people still exist in the football legend stratosphere, and an unbelievably good player just quietly, most economical passer, greatest leader and toughest defender with a smart motor!
@@dannyboy9573 why did you start this with “no” if you essentially agreed with me? Lol. I would agree that there are a lot of insincere people in the football industry particularly in media, he’s honest by his own merits but compared against them he looks like the most truthful man to have ever lived
"The only person who can talk down to me is my da" i have so much respect for this, Honour and especially family Honour is becoming non existent nowadays and it's such an important value to hold in life, this is why Roy is probably the best footballer i have ever witnessed not through skill of football but for the mind he carries in football, very rare.
Family honour is becoming nonexistent because people realised that just because you’re related to someone, doesn’t mean you need to let them walk all over you. Whether it’s your mother, father, brother, sister etc. If I won’t let a random man on the street talk down to me, I won’t let my father do it either simply because we share blood.
@@Gino565 everything okay at home there pal??..keane refers to his father in a sense of a 'role model', 'provider' and 'protector of his own family',he obviously took comfort and trust in his Father and if he ever spoke down it would usauly be either he had his sons respect and words were used instead of a firm hand or he was acting the maggot and rather than raise aggro levels, he would say something sharp and silver tounged to make his son see his ways through sudden realisation,he also knew he raised his kids good and proper who wont scream and cry because daddy name shamed them, that's a good parent instilling character into their kids, it just so happens that his father shares the same blood I suppose if that's anything to warrant your arguement, either way it sounds like he had a much more respect and trust in his folks than you did, your personal views regarding your personal situation at home bears nothing to the rest of us
@@johnnysheridan You aren’t too bright are you? You’re saying that simply because someone is your family, they have the right to be disrespectful to you throughout your life? Not everyone is a pushover like you seem to be. Being related to someone doesn’t make them an inherently good person to be around. They could be terrible people, or you might just not get along. Being family isn’t an excuse for negative behaviour, and if you’re suggesting otherwise then I have to ask you if everything is alright at home? It’s not a matter of respect, it’s about knowing your self worth and not letting people disrespect you, make you uncomfortable, or harm you just because you happen to be related. Not hard to understand.
This was my favourite footballer interview I've ever seen. Roy's such a down to earth footballing legend. Tells it how it is. I wish more footballers was more like him these days.
We will probably never see another player quite like him........modern football is awash with mediocre, passionless clowns that have been media trained to within an inch of their lives!
Same, i'm so bored of the modern footballer. They're like robots, i fall asleep listening to them talk. It's like listening to politicians. I just want to hear honesty, not media- trained bullshit.
Roy Keane is the greatest captain we've ever had. True leader on and off the pitch. He made all our other players play with passion. His influence alone is what it's missing in the modern game.
For me he's probably the best captain the league has ever seen. And that's coming from a Liverpool fan. I know deep inside that I would follow Roy into hell if he'd ask me haha. Such a character and no bullshit.
Hands down, the best interview I have seen and enjoyed watching; EVER. Roy completely transparent, honest and relaxed as he walked the dog. As a fly in the woods, I learnt more about the man, from the man himself, rather than the press. He has a clear vision of ethics and standards to which he holds himself to account and is frustrated by those who are not so committed and set their bar so low. Who wouldn't be!! What a guy. Great respect. Thanks Gary for bringing that to us.
Really enjoyed that, Roy Keane is a legend in my eyes, senior Irish players should have stood up for him in Saipan. He wanted things to be right. Great professional and gave everything.
He was a very poor manager at Ipswich. Couldn’t motivate, bullied certain players, fell out with them, ended up hated. You can tell from his answers to questions about being late he doesn’t have the ability to put his arm round a player and adapt his style. He was a bad manager. Forget his charisma forget his ability as a player. He was a poor manager and he spent millions at Ipswich and was at a decent club that could have been a good platform for him.
@@MarlboroughBlenheim1 If you were consistently late for work, would your manager put your arm round you? He won't get another managerial job in football because of comments like this and players needing to be babysat 24/7
@@mattypinder7287 no he didn’t. He got Sunderland relegated, then almost got Ipswich relegated, having fallen out with all the players and fans and had money to spend at both.
That was one of the best pieces of football related content I’ve seen in a long long time. Respect to Gary Neville, he is doing a great job , knowledgeable, passionate and smart. As for Roy ,what a player and leader but it’s great to see another side of him recently. Great job to Gary and all who were involved.
Have you seen the audience with Roy and Gary in Ireland? It's brilliant, Roy's so refreshingly honest about everything......and the crowd love him all the more for it!
I have so much respect and admiration for roy keane. Even as a liverpool fan, i find him so genuine and authentic, doesn't beat around the bush, very direct, no fascades just keano being keano. What a man!
@@richardevans7035 think they on about his personality, not as a player Gerard was brilliant no doubt but it tho...let's be fair. Gerrard, scholes, viera, lampard, Keane, makelele, pires, haman, all very good players for that generation.
"How many bottles did you have?" - Sir Alex "10, 11 bottles...that was every hour" -Keano 🤣🤣 The more I see Roy Keane the happier I am. I love this guy!
I much prefer listening to Roy talk about the things he enjoyed about his life & career. Must've heard the Schmeichel/ Fergie/ Mick McCarthy stories 50 times each over the years, but I find it far more enjoyable to hear why he actually enjoyed playing and how much of a dream it was. Great interview, good work!
As a Liverpool fan Roy is a working class legend still speaks of graft, dedication and respect, all the necessities to develop and function a winning mentality in the beautiful game One of the best
We need some more appreciation for how well that dog has been trained. Roy didn’t have to say a word to it. Was off it’s lead the whole time and just slowly followed and sat down whenever they stopped.
Doesnt suprise me one bit, he is a real leader with actual alpha energy. Dogs pick up on that. Most of the time dogs get annoying when they see you as an equal or even worse when they think they are the leader in the house.
They don’t make men like Roy Keane anymore! Not a United fan in the slightest but my favourite all time Premier League player. His battles with Vieira were great. Legend.
Zerg Nub Yeah Scholes technically was far better, however, for me in terms of leadership, desire, passion & mentality Keane was light years beyond anyone in the Prem.
The best hour of youtube I’ve seen in years. What an absolute legend Roy is. He must be one of the most popular well liked guys in England now. How can you not like the guy. Wednesday fan here too so no man United Bias
The 🐐 of central midfielders. Captain, leader and legend. The most underrated central midfielder we’ve probably ever seen. Elite winner. Dominated Champions League matches by himself 👏🏻
Underated? Nah, I'm a LFC supporter and even I respect Keane's ability. Only perhaps youngsters who weren't around when he was playing would not acknowledge this man's ability.
Even as a Liverpool fan, this is pure Gold. Love Gary's presenting on the Overlap and Roy Keane is just a legend, straight to the point. Him and Micah Richards need their own channel lol
@EB Z Because any player that pulls on the shirt of your arch rival you instantly dislike. That's just the way it is. Now he isn't wearing that shirt, well I can cut him some slack.
Just watch this, not a United fan, but that is the best 58 minutes 39 seconds I've spent in months. I know their mates but their chemistry is brilliant and so much of what Roy Keanes talks about is so true. I now fully understand how he led such a room full of egos to the success they had!
Roy had a great career but the 1 thing that’ll always stand out for me was that Juventus game in 99. Getting beaten 2-0, he gets booked knowing he’s not going to make the final if they can somehow pull it back. I was gutted for him but at the same time thinking that was one helluva shift he put in to make sure his teammates made the final. What a captain he was.
Honestly i could listen to this man all day, talks straight no nonsense, like Clough who ironically managed Roy at Forest. One of my fav players at United, I’ve got so much respect for him - ill never forget his performance against Juventus 2nd Leg 99!
Every time I listen to Roy it’s like listening to myself! We have the same values, the same type of character and the same disdain for being disrespected! Oh! And the same love for dogs!
Fantastic interview, Gary and Roy talking for an hour. The quickest hour. I could listen to Roy chat all day, no bullshit, just straight honest opinions, refreshing.
The fact that someone telling the truth and not being fake is seen as novel nowadays is a damning endictment of society. It used to be the rule rather than the exception
Great to see how strong these twos friendship is. They can laugh and joke about serious things and both know when eachother is being serious and respect eachother like old war vets. Both of them speaking very honestly and always looking into the ground visualizing the past before they speak of it.
I absolutely admire Roy. True legend of the game. Doesn’t get the praise he deserves… but then again he probably doesn’t care for praise to him everything he’s done it was his job to do period. That’s what I admire about him the most.
You notice how this is the most viewed video on the Overlap so far. Gary is obviously in every video, but Roy Keane is the Man. I've only gotten into football for about 6-7 years so its been fun going through the history and learning about the legends of the game. One of my favorites is Roy Keane. I think he's the best midfielder in Premier League history. I would have him in my all time xi. Honestly, just one of my favorite people in sports
