The ultimate hard man of football Roy Keane (that sentence usually riles people up) drops the wisdom and philosophy that took him to the very top of the game for years at Manchester United and Ireland.
With 1,000 views an hour right now I'm gonna highlight my other channel (travel). If you're interested in videos on NZ, South Korea, Italy, the UK and Australia (coming soon) hit the link! www.youtube.com/@alexandellietravel Thanks very much for supporting either / both channels! Sorry about the shameless plug!!!
Keane and Wright need a podcast where they watch 10-15 minutes of football highlights, with a different theme every week Easy 40-60 minutes content, always guaranteed to be amazing
Apart from Roy's achievements and track record, personal morality, and obvious integrity , intellect, and warrior mentality - his Dog adores him and is welded to his side in quiet loyalty - you can't fool a dog. Roy is 24 carat gold through and through.
He’s so right about fans bothering people when they’re out with their families. I saw Wayne Rooney with his family in parswood arcades about 6 years ago and was dying to ask for a picture with him but you’ve got to leave people to it when they’re trying to get on with a normal life
I work in a popular London tourist attraction and see famous people all the time (footballers, actors, musicians, politicians etc), The absolute most I would do is smile, say their name and give them a fist bump without making a scene. If I really respected them I would shake their hand.
Even that's intrusive to be honest,a nod is the maximum you should go and only if eye contact is made, imagine if every person that recognised a star insisted on a fist bump of high five, it would be a nightmare for thrm
What you say is....Oi Oi Saveloy geezer. Then walk past them with a Mickey Flanagan cockney walk not looking back. They will be thinking WTF . Give the mugs something else to think about.
Really, if people don't want their fans to bother them, then stay away from jobs that make you famous.. be a librarian, or maybe sell insurance if you want the fortune without the fame.
I’m glad people from all clubs get to see what Roy Keane is all about. They likely may not have taken to the man when their team played against him but he was simply magnificent. The beating heart of a quite wonderful group of players who’d outplay or out battle the opposition. There was no feeling like watching him lead your team out.
I've never seen the clip at 25:27 but that is absolutely COLD - what a mentality, what a player - doing whatever it takes to win, making sacrifices for the team
I absolutely love the way his dog is just following him or walking with him and stops and patiently waits each time Roy stops. 27:42, love the way his dog is just calmly looking back at other dogs, and Roy ruffles his ears lightly. There is a definite bond and understanding between them.
@@johnrockyryan ya father. knows the truth.. My uncle john passed away now was at usa world cup in a hotel the Irish fa put them in the same hotel as fans. Basic squalor
Love how the guy tries to argue back too when he hasn't got a leg to stand on: "actually it wasn't the second time...", "yeah I was going to let it ring..." just apologise and stand corrected
Didn’t think I’d watch the whole thing but I did and I’m happy I did cause there’s actually a lot of life lessons in here and great insights on charisma etc from him. Proud to be Irish
The only thing I'll disagree with Keano on is his rating of Schmeichel. He's one of the best keepers ever, saved United so many times, I know they weren't exactly best mates but you can't argue just how good Schmeichel was.
I don't think Keane would disagree with a single point you made, they're all true: He's without doubt the finest Danish keeper ever, probably the best keeper Man Utd ever had, and one of the greatest keepers the world has ever seen - and yet he was *still* overrated.
Watch story is classic...lucky to have been a Forest fan back then. Wish he could have played with Kenny Burns at forest 10 years prior. I use to watch Kenny at Ilketon Town when he was in his 40's and he would leave us in stitches...
Watching Roy Keane play was pleasure tbh. Kept it simple and played with passion. It is not by chance that Forest and Man Utd had massive boosts in results and performance when he was on the pitch for them, a passion and toughness you don’t see in the modern game. He would certainly make my toughest players XI along with a lot of the old Wimbledon “Crazy Gang”. Simple way of play, but certainly effective, team leader, midfield general, tough as nails, fearless, all words you can use to describe him but it was also clear he had a father-like quality that help nurture the likes of the Neville brothers, Giggs, Beckham, Scholes and Butt which brought United the success they enjoyed. Dammit Roy, I am a Liverpool supporter, why couldn’t you have stayed in Nottingham?🤣
26:15 Roy's talk about sacrifices always reminds me of when Luis Suarez handballed off the line for Argentina and was sent off, and the subsequent penalty was saved. I remember that image of Suarez watching from the tunnel and then leaping for joy when they saved it. A dirty player, with horrid views on black people (Evra debacle), but you could never question his dedication to his club and country and getting the result.
Brilliant assessment. I can't stand Suarez and I hated when he did that against Ghana but it was the correct decision and in a split second he made a sacrifice for his country to win
Much love and respect for this legend (and I hate ManU)! I watch everything he's on, even his games when he was a couch. If you listen to what he always say, you'll notice that he cares about having a good Character, being on time, and doing your best at your job no matter how good/bad you are. Key point for success in every field.
Heart on his sleeve. Great guy from a rangers fan 👍 hearing him say a donner kebab 😂😂 and got to mention the beautiful dog , what a lovely dog, so patient listening to these two 😅
