Despite the immense personal challenges he faced, Orbison's legacy lives on through his sons, Alex, Wesley and Roy Kelton Orbison Jr. In a remarkable display of love and innovation, they used advanced technology to create a posthumous duet with their father. By blending their own voices with his recorded vocals, they crafted a poignant collaboration that bridges the gap between generations and pays homage to their father's musical genius.
Roy Orbison was also known for his enigmatic persona, often seen wearing dark glasses. While some misconceptions have arisen, such as the belief that he wore them due to blindness, the truth is more nuanced. In this video, we’re taking a look at the real reason he wore them, as well as some fascinating stories about the legacy he left behind, and how his sons have honored him over the years.
Roy Orbison's music continues to resonate with audiences worldwide. With his soaring, operatic voice and deeply emotional ballads like "Only the Lonely" and "Crying," Orbison captivated listeners and left an indelible impact on the music industry. His contributions have influenced countless artists across genres, and his legacy remains a testament to his exceptional talent, resilience, and ability to evoke powerful emotions through his music. He left his glasses on the plane when he arrived in Dothan, Alabama and played that night for the first time in his sunglasses out of necessity. That night he met Bobby Goldsboro and John Rainey Atkins who were in his hired backup band and they went on to tour with Roy. I have an original promo poster from that concert hanging in our guitar shop in Dothan. A young Buddy Buie was also there that night.

Correction: You made an error on Roy Orbison's first wife, Claudette Frady Orbison. She did not die in a car accident, she died in a motorcycle accident. The information below is quoted from the article. On "JUNE 6, 1966 - Roy Orbison's first wife, Claudette Frady Orbison (b. Sep. 5, 1941) was killed when a truck pulled out of a side road and collided with the motorbikes that she and Roy were riding on in Gallatin, Tennessee. She died in his arms an hour later, at just 24 years old." She was a mother of two boys. Roy Orbison was a tremendous singer, songwriter, and musician. He had a unique sound that basically transcended decades And resonated with millions. RIP Roy Kelton Orbison, April 23, 1936 - December 6, 1988, age 52.
