It has to be exceptional to be performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. And it was the orchestra’s performance that made Orbison so extraordinarily successful.

This amazingly beautiful tune was co-written by Orbison and Jeff Lynne in 1988, on the brink of their Traveling Wilbury's days (which were brought to a premature ending by Orbison's sudden heart-attack death in early 1989, at the age of 52). The song has the 'Lynne touch' - meaning lush, in the style of the 1966-68 Beatles which Lynne was greatly influenced by. The tune is adapted from the magnificent Pucinni-opera piece "Nessun Dorma" from his final opera, Turandot (1925), and made most-famous in the 1990's by the greatest operatic tenor of the past 50 years, Luciano Pavarotti. So, fittingly, we have in this song a 'marriage' of the greatest male pop voice -- Orbison - and the greatest male operatic voice, Pavarotti.
