Without a doubt Roy was the greatest vocalist ever, the range the depth the emotion he had in his voice was amazing and even now the effect he has is felt deep in the soul...Elvis even said when Roy was opening for him in Vegas "How can I follow him he is awesome"..ty for your reaction Keep Safe Keep Strong
Roy Orbison recorded the song in 1987, but his version wasn't released to radio or as a single to purchase until after his death in 1992. Most of us first heard this song on the radio when Cyndi Lauper recorded and released her hit version in 1989. (And then Celine had a dance cover version in 2003.)

Marcus Oh-really-yes 2 months ago (edited) @E J ... I should have worded it better to say that his version of the song was released in 1992, four years after his death in 1988.
