What is apparent is that the split in the ELO was amicable. Roy and Jeff remaining friends to this day.

Jeff Lynne's speaking voice sounds exactly the same today.

He still has a very youthful voice!

@@sarahloughlin3724I love to listen to Jeff speak. His attitude is so genuine with respect to the subject, and it shows in his voice. He sounds very excited to talk about what's happening.

Interesting to hear Jeff's answer to the final question: "has Roy played on the two tracks you've already recorded for the second album?". He confirms what was revealed in 2003: that Roy (and presumably Bill Hunt and Hugh McDowell) contributed to 'In Old England Town' and 'From The Sun To The World' (although Roy was credited, in 2003, with bass *and* cello).

Almost confusing the activity at this time-ego and suppressed ego riding over the creative processes of two men who had so many ideas but not the technology or the assurance to just go for it, while being very aware of the music press and how it's negative reaction could set them back. Two men, three bands, 5 albums in the melting pot, what a time.

I dont there was a massive difference writing credits wise on the first album...Roy wrote 4 of the 9 songs...The Battle Of Marston Moor was pretty much a Roy Wood solo effort apart from Steve Woollam's violin....I love the 1st album...

Is the interviewer Whispering Bob Harris? (first interviewer). Anyway, I actually think 10358 overture (elo's first single), is superb, and the type of composition Bach, or Beethoven would write if they were alive today.

yes, it's Bob Harris

I've never heard this interview before. What a pairing they were both brilliant artists in their own rights. Both were prolific writers and both could play almost every instruments. I love both of these groups and still love the music today. This interview is pretty informative ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

It’s funny I’m sure Roy has said he left ELO because interviewee kept asking him questions are bypassing Jeff and he felt if he stayed it would damage his relationship. Personally I actually think Messages from the country sounds more ELO overall than No Answer. Anyway thanks for post great quality for a 50 year old tape recording. ❤

Jeff Lynne always comes across a bloody nice bloke. No big ego, but lots of talent.
