Changing the CDI on the GT150 is one of the easiest things to do, this video should help solve any questions on the process.
There are plenty of options for a GY6 150cc motor, and everyone has different results. I went with the Glixal Blue Racing CDI from Amazon. These will advance timing and control spark, and can squeeze a bit more out of the motor. I do not claim to be an expert on these, and am basing the selection on advice.
Tools Required:
10mm Socket
8mm Socket
Rachet
8mm wrench
Small flathead for clips.

So glad I found your channel. Do you wish your gt150 was fuel injected vs carb?

Purchasing a GT150 within the next few weeks. What’s your over all opinion? May do a cross country trip in it in a year or two. Think the only hesitation I have about it is that it’s not fuel injected. Are you able to hold 55mph?

I think the 125 is fuel injected and not carbureted

The GP300 is fuel injected, and as such does not rely on a CDI.

Nice one good video. How much performance improvement did you notice or achieve with the new box. I have a RA150 and I’m looking at ways to improve performance, due to the fact that I live 6000 feet above sea level. 👍🛵

I don't know that it improves the performance that much, it advances the timing which gives a bit more pep. If you're up high like that I'd guess you'll want to rejet the carburetor, going down a size or two to find out what gets it running right

@@freewayRode hi, yes I also had issues with it stalling, cutting out and a top speed of 40mph. The auto choke wasn’t the best either, so I switched out the carburetor for a 26mm PWK. Took a bit of playing around and it definitely runs better, could probably do with another fine tuning, but the seasons over now. So that’s next years project. 👍
