Royal Ascot 2024 fashion: BEST and WORST dressed 

Unfortunately many of the commentaries were not in sync with what we were seeing.

As usual, Zara looked beautiful in every outfit and Eugenie looks as though she needs a stylist. She definitely takes after her mother.

Pricess Eugenie desperately needs more supportive foundation garments! Beatrice dresses herself much more thoughtfully.

She looks great in her outfits, just a note, the British love big hats and we think we look great in them, whatever you may say.

I never thought I would say this, but I really thought Charles looked cute and dapper in his first day look! Now, Elizabeth Hurley- what a disaster. She did not even seem to attempt to coordinate her hat and dress. The hat- if you could call it that- was awful with the broken-basket look on a black form fitting headpiece. The lace dress was white with colorful flowers. No black at all like the hat. She really looked like she just woke up and threw on the clothes laying around that were closest to her and then ran out the door. And Princess Eugenie- a big NO to the knit dress. It is not a style for her figure. I actually kind of liked her hat with the tassle, though. Princess Beatrice needs to say "good bye" to the headbands. They look childish on her at her age. The hat she wore next looked outstanding on her with its off center angle!

Please admit that when you are older, colour is necessary so the lady doesn’t look washed out.Hint that the late Queen always looked bright as like her bright attire. The King pos too with spring colours. Find them in a crowd and matching is best of all.

I think The Princess Royal is wearing the diamond and pearl earrings that belonged to her mother her her outfit in shades of grey is lovely. Zara looks stunning in all her dresses for Ascot.

Camilla, like the Queen Mother, is fond of large feathery hats. Like the Queen Mum, she knows what suits her and sticks to wht she likes.

The light blue dress and big feather hat was my favorite Royal Ascot outfit The Queen Consort wore out.

Lilac is pronounced ….lie lack. Never leelack.

I am happy to see Lady Gabrielle was with Princess Anne. She was the perfect Royal to help guide her through a probable difficult day. I hope she continues to move to different phases of her life. She has been through a true tragedy. It is beyond me why someone does not help both Eugenia and Beatrice select their clothing. They are both lovely and with the right clothing and accessories they can walk amongst the best dressed with smiles on their face. It is beyond me why Fergie has not helped her daughters. Thankfully both of their husbands dote upon them. They are nice looking young men. I hate to say this but Elizabeth Hurley takes the ugly prize. She wore what appears to be a broken down wire fruit basket stuffed with cloth and called it an appropriate headpiece is awful.

Too much heavy accent and not enough understanding. Should have used Closed Captioning to help us understand. You also talk too slow, but that could be due to the extra thick accent. Very hard to decipher.

It’s Royal Ascot! Hats are very impressive to it and can be quite a sight. Great big hats were a thing this year.

Hi, There are no fascinators at Royal Ascot. They are against the dress code and there will be a small selection of hats available if what you wear isn't one. No Royal Lady will ever wear a fascinator, I've learnt from a very good source. They are not deemed elegant enough for Royal events. A fascinator is an arrangement mostly of feathers and mounted on a headband, a comb or a hair pin. Don't let the hairband throw you. A hat can be secured to the head by a headband too. It can also be secured by a comb or hair pins, but they are generally sewn inside the hat and will not be seen. There is also hat elastics to secure a hat, but you generally won't see it because they should be in the same color as the hair and concealed by the hair too. I really like hat pins, but they are not common with modern hats. That's because you have to have your hair styled in such a way that allow you to secure the hat pin in it. The halo hat is also a hat, even if it looks like a headband, so that shape is also a hat not a fascinator. The best known use of the halo hat at the moment, I would suggest, is the the one in teal that Penny Mordaunt was wearing at the Coronation of King Charles. I also spotted saucer hats and a half hat. The first one is just as it says, a saucer-like hat with a dent in it to stabilize it on the head and can be placed in any way the wearer wants to. The second looks a little bit like a flat hairband, but much wider. The half hat was popular in the 1940's and 50's and i spotted one on Mrs. Middleton. There where a few perchers as well. A percher hat is usually smaller than the head, placed forward, and usually on an angle. They generally don't have a large brim even if I saw some that had them. They too come to us courtesy of the 1940's and are very chic. I understand why we see more perchers with brims these days, as we know more about the risks of sun damage. The hats that the Queen is wearing have all the same shape and size. The differences are in the embellishments. This is a hat shape that she wears the most, and there must be a hat block at Philip Treacy's that the people in his studio can block in their sleep. The embellishment you didn't like is not an appliqué. An appliqué is a decoration that you sew all around to fasten it, and isn't commonly used on hats. The embellishment was a flower detail, a large silk flower or a silk peony. They can all be used to describe that particular element. The duck egg one looks to me like it has an ostrich fringe embellishment, but it looks like her usual shape and width. A prime example of how important the embellishment can be and how it can change the appearance of a hat. Very good to remember if you want to rewear a hat but want it to look "new". I really do like hats (and sometimes fascinators😉😊) and care about the way we talk about them. A hat is a hat, and a fascinator is a fascinator. They are two different animals, even if they both are decorative and fun to use. I personally thought Eugenie was one the worst dressed. She has never managed to look appropriate or stylish. Wonder what she sees in a mirror.

Her pronunciation somewhat resembles the accent of Italians speaking English, with all the words ending in ah's and eh's . But then again not ---- it is a quite peculiar type of pronunciation and I seriously wonder why this is particular lady has to do the talking. And, maybe she can substitute the endless : "I really liked" comments by some more original comments, if only for the variety.

I thought the ladies (and men) were, all, beautiful. What a gorgeous and delightful display of fashion. It doesn't get any better than this.

After being in the royal enclosure for 10 years , I concluded that English women have no style with ONE EXCEPTION: CATHERINE THE PRINCESS OF WALES. IMHO.

I didn't think that Queen Camilla's second day outfit suited her at all. On the other hand I had no objection at all to her white wrap dress.

Best to co-ordinate your comments with the pictures you're showing! Very confusing. Some shots were a bit too long - perhaps that's why the last two outfits were out of sync!

I agree Camillas first two hats were lovely. The rest looked a bit unbalanced to me. The very pale blue did not suit her. What really needs attention is her frizzy hair. Call in the royal hairdresser. A nice bob would be an improvement or even a classy wig. I LOVED HER FIRST OUTFIT. STUNNING.

I think Jerry Hall, Liz Hurley, and Anouska would have looked better with a sleek updo. Long hair is terrific with certain styles but with the dresses and hat they chose an updo would have improved the looks. Also, the heavy Cuban link necklace on Jerry did not lay correctly and should have been removed for the day.

Camilla makes the Dior dress look dowdy. As for the white dress, I never seen a queen anywhere wear white as often as Camilla...she is no saint and should drop the color from her rotation. The duck egg blue dress looks okay as long as she is sitting down. When she stands, the area around the buttons is puckered and ill fitting. Overall, not bad for a used-up tea bag.

No matter what high end designers Cammila uses she will never look as well dressed, elegant and classy as the late Queen Elizabeth ll! It’s the old scenario, you can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear! Px
