Drinks can be a big part of your costs on cruising. There are different drink packages and options available. Some cruise lines have different deals where alcohol drinks are included. Make sure to talk to your travel advisor. Lets start with complimentary drinks.
1) Complimentary Drinks (Included with your cruise purchase)-- There are several complimentary drink stations throughout the ship. You will find drink dispensers with water, different juices, regular brewed coffee & decaffeinated coffee, and hot water. Beside the drink dispensers you will also find a small selection of tea bags and instant hot chocolate. You will also have different sugars & sugar substitutes along with creamer to go with the coffee.
2) Non-Alcoholic Drinks--Drinks such as espresso coffees, smoothies, sodas, and mock-tails are usually available on cruises for an extra cost. Royal Caribbean has several drink packages available for their non-alcoholic drinks. You can buy a package for just expresso coffees, a "bubbles package" that's just for sodas or a combo of both. If there is a "Starbucks" on board, usually that is completely separate and not included in any of the drink packages.
3) Alcohol--Cruise lines limit what alcohol and amounts you can bring with you.There is plenty of alcohol available for purchase on the cruise and different ways to purchase. If you enjoy an occasional cocktail or a single glass of wine with dinner, I do recommend that you purchase your drinks a la carte. Alcohol packages can be rather pricey and are created for the people who drink more than 3 cocktails per day. With Royal Caribbean, when purchasing the Alcohol package, soda is included.
Purchasing Drinks at Port
You are allowed to purchase drinks while in port to bring back on the ship. Water, juice, and soda are allowed to be open and drunk. However, if bottles of alcohol are purchased while in port, they are not allowed to be opened on the ship.
