Cory did you see Kyle's vlog on the new Air Force tattoo policy now allowing full sleeve tattoo's? Do you think you will know get full sleeve tatto's on both of your arms ?
Pretty sure those flashing lights and all aren't technically street legal here. :P How much was the ride anyway? These vans tend to charge "tourist rates" so...
Golly, that's scalping! Marina Cruise Centre to Boat Quay shouldn't have cost more than $10 in a regular cab (or even less with Uber) - though I do understand from experience that getting one there with tons of people disembarking from the ships is ridiculously difficult.
I stayed at the YMCA hotel, One Orchard Road, right next door to the national museum, McDonald's in the lobby, swimming pool on the roof, about $65 a night. It was nice.
It's been a few years, but I checked their website yesterday and they still had rates in the $65-100 range for a double room this month, depending on the day. It's a little complicated because they require you to buy a $2 membership to get a room there too, but it's a regular hotel and you can use the gym & pool. It's a crazy-good location right on Orchard Road, and they have regular YMCA things going on there too, so it's busy. When I was there apparently the local deaf kids club met in the McD's in the lobby, so it was always packed with a ton of deaf kids signing away! Anyways, it's a laugh to say you stayed at the Y-M-C-A on vacation! (In Hong Kong, we stayed at the Salvation Army-run hotel (NOT THE HOMELESS SHELTER!), and it was nice too!).
Cory and lacy we will be joining you guys in Okinawa here in April, we are super excited. we've been watching you guys and Kyle and makenna for a little while. my husband and I would L.O.V.E to go to Germany next, ultimate dream!
+Catherine Christie we have made friends with someone who just recently went on the cruise in April. They said their experience was different, and some of the negative things we didn't like, didn't happen. We could do without Sanya, China however, we loved the other destinations. We would still recommend this cruise regardless, because we had a great time in the end. And the ship was amazing! We would just recommend doing some heavy research, and then booking making sure to book an excursion via RC to get to Ho Chi Minh.
Thanks for your great cruise videos. We were looking for some ideas for cruising in that part of the world and stumbled upon your channel. Also, Thank You for your service to our great country.
Awesome video!! thanks for sharing, even though its over a year old I found it very helpful!! My family & I are flying to Singapore in a couple weeks and cruising on the Ovation for 5 nights, so excited! That hostel is super cheap - we're paying a fortune to stay on Sentosa island for 3 nights post cruise, so great work finding a cheaper option!
Great Vlogs! Great editing! I'm watching yours to prepare for my Ovation cruise in Feb from Sydney! Your Singapore footages made me a little homesick. 👍😊
Ouhh did you guys check airbnb? I saw a bunch of airbnbs that were super nice that were cheaper than the hostel you guys were in (in the same location too, they look like they were apartments)! Airbnb is always the first place I look!
Singaporean here. We colloquially call the McSpicy the "McLaosai" which more or less means McDiarrhea...because of the nasty side effect it has on many people who consume it. :P Fun fact about our car prices here - they are heavily taxed and have various fees attached to owning one so a "$250,000 Bentley" actually costs about 3x-4x as much.
+SECTORTWO that's funny about the mcspicy. Honestly, as I was eating it, I noticed that it was questionably undercooked. It wasn't too spicy either. I love really spicy foods though. Annnnd that's insane about the taxes on cars!
McD's is pretty inconsistent here for some reason but either way undercooked chicken is bad. Also, in general the McSpicy is really only moderately spicy despite what is advertised. :D
That is strange? I never knew Royal Caribbean would boot everyone out from Hong Kong to Singapore the destination. But for Carnival from L.A to Ensenada, Mexico then back to same direction hmmm?? 🤔 2nd Hostel? Isn't that more like those military bunker bed Barracks boot camp something like that? 3rd To Be Honest Singapore the most expensive country than Japan. It's is very expensive to own a car in Singapore because government registration fee are high.
+rileypart1 honestly, hostels are great for travelers. We never pick a hotel based on amenities. We love to get out of our room and explore. We really only need a place to sleep, and a place to get clean! Plus, we've never stayed in one so, why not? And yeah, Singapore is super expensive. It's one of the most expensive places to live!
