Carmet tug Venture takes the Mersey Ferry Royal Daffodil out of Duke street - Birkenhead docks for the last time .
Mersey Ferries' Royal Daffodil has new owners after a deal was secured with a leisure-based company.
The vessel, which ended 50 years of service in 2013, is now owned by local company Liverpool City Sights Ltd.
It will now be moved from Duke Street Docks in Birkenhead where it has been since coming out of service and will be refurbished and then re-homed in the Canning Dock area as a leisure attraction.
The deal represents a £40,000 annual saving for the Combined Authority, which will retain the name Royal Daffodil for the new generation of Mersey Ferries - currently being procured by the organisation.

Brought a tear to my eye, I lost my teddy when I was 7 on that little ship, the captain bought me and my sister new ones and delivered them himself in uniform, happy days.

Thank goodness that people in high places have recognised the importance of this little ferry to Merseyside. She is simply part of our Marine and folk heritage. Thank you for capturing this moment with this remarkable video.

I’ve no real connection to the Royal Daffodil (other than having taken photographs of her and living in Birkenhead), but found this very moving. Well done on preserving such an occasion 👍

My mum was evacuated on this ship. September 2nd 1939 ,day before war was declared .Collected from the Ford Motor Co jetty in Dagenham ;her and her school mates of Dagenham County High . They were taken up the East Coast to Gorleston where they stayed in the Floral Hall overnight . In the morning buses came for them and took them to their billets in norfolk and suffolk . .
