After the earlier rude awakening, it was only right that I change the oil and filter and check over a few other basics. Here, I reflect on those and also take a look at the spark plug to satisfy myself the carburation isn't too weak.
The cool, damp climate of the UK is actually kind to vehicle tyres. It's hot, dry and sunny climates which take their toll. I worked in the UAE for a few years and over there, I would say the tyres on my car felt unsafe at just 2 years old.
What a lovely old girl she is a site to Behold thank you as I especially remember this bike being my fathers only means of transport how times have changed 👍
Another great video. I like that you discuss problems such as tyres with a level head. I have purchased a new Honda for winter camping trips. As you say plastic and paint.
It's a bit rich on idle - so it's easier to start. Does it have a choke? Needle position looks Okay. There's nothing like new rubber. Never shoot you down. Bless you for keeping old bikes on the road sir!
G'day Paul, one thing l like about Cafe racers is the modifications you can do, your has other bike bits and still looks great, and as for tyers your right if not dried out or cracked and had good tread their OK, tread is for wet roads our roads you could run slicks most of the year, better give your Dad a big hug for giving you those bikes, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
If that back tyre was stiff you'd know all about it after going around that roundabout on your last ride. I've encountered stiff old tyres on a bike twice: in one case the back tyre resisted leaning into a corner until I got past about a 20 degree lean when all resistance ceased and most of the grip went with it, the other one was even more ancient, squirming all over the place when cornering and really had me worried that it would step out. You can bet that I changed each of them pretty quickly.
I believe it was in the previous video on this bike that you mentioned it was this bike that taught you the importance of gearing. I would very much like to hear that story, especially what you learned.
On my 350 I've put a 17t front and a 42t bolt on sprocket. Found its works well with my over mods. Slighty lower geared than standard. As was looking for more torque on the hills and in a head wind. But still tops out about 70mph
@paulhenshaw4514 well as I have inoperable lung cancer I can't say "knock yourself out" with any real conviction, we all know the risks so we put our big boy pants or blinkers and crack on! 😂
